I got a 36 on ACT, Should I send my SAT????

In the middle of my junior year, I aced the ACT. I took the SAT in December this year (senior). What score would justify me sending the SAT to colleges. (I have already sent them my SAT 2's, so I don't HAVE to send anything)

I'm applying to Stanford (deferred SCEA), Duke, Notre Dame, and the Ivies except for Cornell and Columbia. Thanx!!

anyone? help>>>

Listen,The SAT is usually more acknowleged than the ACT…the only score i think you can choose over your perfect ACT score is a 2300+

^ No, each test is considered equal by college admissions, and that is all that matters. It doesn’t matter if the SAT is better known than the ACT, in the admissions process a 36 is considered equal to a 2400 and so on.

Why did you take the SAT if you aced the ACT already? Colleges consider both tests equally and if you take both, they will look at the higher score only. That being said, there is no SAT I score that will help you at all, even if you get a 2400. I guess you can send it if you get 2300+, but the help you think it may give you will likely be non-existent.

But anyway congrats on your perfect score! Hopefully you’ll get into a decent portion of the selective schools you’re applying to.

thanks guitarman. I had to take the SAT for NMS qualification (finalist thing)

Dude, if you come online just to flaunt your score, then you’re pretty sad.

Is it really hard to answer that question? Yes, you do send your PERFECT SCORE.

Are you happy you got your attention? Well, congratulations.

Jerk.

^ Wow mate chill. Can people not ask a question anymore?

Yeah colleges actually translate ACT scores into SAT scores, so your 36 will be like a 2400 SAT in their eyes. So it really doesn’t matter if you send it or not. And congratulations!

baru, some schools may favor the SAT over the ACT.

Calm down.

don’t appreciate it baru

1) the score obviously isn’t that impressive, because I did not get into stanford early
2) According to my counselor some schools (i.e. Princeton) prefer SAT
The fact that you can miss 2 or 3 on the ACT and still get a 36 seems like it makes it more equivalent to a 2370 or so, but IDK, which is why I asked. Thanks for being so amicable though

OK, boo-hoo, you didn’t get excepted to stanford.

1.) You can get some questions wrong on the SAT and end up with an 800. It’s called a CURVE.

2.) You’re bragging about your grades online, and it’s not inadvertent either.

The ACT and SAT are weighted equally. Show me an institute that thinks that one has an edge over the other.

Your “questions” are easily self-answered, and your motive here is to just brag. Get a life.

ur brutal brother

since we’re numbering things

1) wasn’t the CURVE for the october SAT in math -1 equals 760? Not too favorable

2) Why are you talking about my grades?

3) Something like 95 percent of Stanford’s entering class submitted SAT, while about 20 percent submitted ACT. This dictates about 15 % submitting both, 80 % submitting just the SAT, and about 5 % submitting just the ACT. Now the total number of ACT takers was about 2.4 million to SAT’s 2.7 million, so these stats seem to indicate that stanford does prefer SAT

It’s “accepted”.

1) The curve on the SAT is beyond doubt much harsher.

2) I see no evidence whatsoever in the initial post that cyge is bragging.

I also see no evidence that every single college-bound high school student in the entire world knows that the ACT and SAT are weighted equally.

Regardless of these statistics, there’s no indication of “preference” here. If stanford rejected you for any reason, I’d assume it was either your GPA, or some other factor such as your essay.

If you’re lying about your score, then you are beyond pathetic.

Oh, and about #2… someone as “smart” as you should know that grades are essential to getting into colleges. Someone with a 2.0 GPA and 2400 SAT won’t get into the best schools, and neither will someone with a 5.0 GPA and 1200 SAT score.

I understand that, but i didnt see how i had referenced that before you brought it up

I’d only send a 2340+, and I’d ignore everything baru11 is saying here.

Good luck.

cgye-
Nice job on your score! Now I don’t want anyone to bite my head off… I’m just going to say this from personal experience. I got a 36 on my ACT too, and I didn’t bother sending in my SAT scores because I didn’t want to spend the money on both haha. Anyway, with my 36 alone I got into Notre Dame, Boston College and Georgetown so I don’t think it’s hurt me much.

On another note… Doesn’t it suck how you can’t mention your score without people think you’re bragging? IDK, that’s something I really struggled with when scores came out last year, because every Junior in my school has to take the test.

Best of luck, cap’n!

Just send your ACT - lucky you that you took your SAT2’s before the SAT1.

Oh so you took it for the national merit finalist deal. That’s cool. I can’t say for sure, but I still doubt that any school actually favors the SAT over the ACT. They try their best to consider each applicant equally, and if one student only took the ACT they won’t hold it against you. But still, if you score 2300+ the SAT I might serve as a nice complement to your ACT score but I still don’t think it will help much if at all. But, if you score well I guess it can’t hurt even though it might not help a lot. So I’d say just go ahead and send it you do well, like 2250/2300+. If there’s one thing I learned from reading parts of the Stanford SCEA results thread, it’s that high test scores and gpa alone aren’t even close to enough anymore.

But anyway, good luck with the rest of your apps. Getting deferred at Stanford certainly must have been a bummer, but there is still a chance. Hopefully upon the re-evaluation of your application they realize you are worthy of acceptance.

Np sherpa; he’s obviously asking a stupid question here. An idiot like you who fails to acknowledge that fact doesn’t deserve to even talk.

cgye: First ask yourself: What is the norm in your high school and state? Do most kids take the ACT or the SAT? If the ACT is the dominant exam in your school and state, then just send the ACT. If 90% kids take the SAT in your school and you took the ACT, they might wonder why you took the ACT. But then they’d see the 36 and they’d shut up.

You were defered from Stanford for other reasons and I assure you that sending a 2400 SAT is not going to make a difference. It might make them wonder what your priorities are, taking the SAT in Dec, after a perfect ACT. So be sure to tell them you took it for NMS.
