I am a white male who goes to an average highschool on Long Island.
Pretty Much an admissions officers dream haha.

Rank= 19/262
ACT=29 ( 30 Superscored?)
8 APs by graduation, Including 5 Senior year

Essays= Ive been told are really incredible. I put alot of time into them and I THink there very original.

Interviews- Penn: Went VERY VERY well.
Harvard: Was told by interviewer it was the best nterview had in 25 years.

So anyway, my main EC's all revolve around Music. I plan on minoring in music however. The various groups I am in travel every year both nationally and internationally and routinely win nearly every competietion.

So thats pretty much it. I know my test scores are mediocre, but I hope my well roundedness will make up for this. I also think my entire application is pretty centered around my love for music so I hope this can provide a hook.
Im also First Generation.

That being said I would really appreciate your guys imput on the schools I applied to.

THANKS ALOT GUYS.
I REALLY APPRECIATE IT

Brown (deferred ED)
Duke
Harvard
Upenn
Columbia
Boston College
Boston University
NYU
The George Washington University
Syracuse
Northeastern
SUNY Geneseo

nice, a musician...you'll probably get in at every college from boston college down. who knows at the ivies and duke. good luck :)

are you being recruited for soccer at all?

Music portion is impressive. That might be a hook?

I agree with xphage in that you'll almost definetely be accepted to at least all of you choices from Boston College down...and Duke too probably. Northeastern is tougher than some of the others. I'm not too sure.

Ivies are uncertain, but you have a much better chance than the average applicant. Good luck!

I don't think the music portion is "that" impressive. A lot of that stuff is the basically the same.

-Lead Alto Saxophone In Symphonic Band
-Lead Alto Sax in Honors Wind Ensemble
-Lead Alto Sax In Jazz Ensemble
-Lead Alto Sax in Pep Band
-Lead Alto Sax in Marching Band
-Lead Alto Saxophone in Pit Orchestra

All that is basically the same thing. In all of your schools bands, you're the first alto sax. Colleges will see right through that if you put all that on your app.

-Woodwind Section Leader in Marching Band
-Woodwind Section Leader in Pep Band

Same thing here, you said the same thing but for two different school bands which are probably related anyway.

The piano stuff and just saying woodwind section leader/lead alto sax would be better imo.

psh, whatever.

That's not impressive? You might have missed it. Hey OP, can you expand on this? Also, have you personally won any music awards/competitions instead of just with a group?

No that's not impressive. I also went to a school my freshman and sophmore years that went to national and international competitions/trips every year. Group awards don't really effect you. The importance of that statement does help him however, because being the Lead Alto Sax/Section Leader of a band that good is impressive.

how do you get a 37 on the ACT? As in, all four catagories added together?
scores are not everything, so if your interviewer wrote you a dashing review, you'll still have a chance.

on the other hand... if Brown deferred you, Harvard might seem a little out of reach

icypineapple 37, he got a 29. Did you read the post? did u really think he got a 37? u know thats impossible right? Also, I dont think harvard is out of reach, especially if u had that good of an interview. He didn't mention and interview with brown, so maybe they didnt get to see the same thing the Harvard interviewer got to see.

yeah it was my bad; I wrote the first part as soon as I read the title and skimmed through the post. on my second way around I caught the actual ACT score but had already posted my post. (this type of reading method only works on the SAT's unfortunately)
