My intended major as of now is biology or something medically related and I got a 4 on the physics and chemistry AP exams. Will this hurt my chances of getting into Ivies or other top-tier schools?
I don’t think those scores will hurt your chances. I got the same scores as you, and I’m looking at top tier colleges too. AP scores are such a small segment of your application; a score of 4 is not a bad score! What really matters are your transcript, ECs, and essays. That’s how many colleges decide whether to accept or deny you.
Short answer is no. Focus on writing interesting essays.
As long as you write great essays and have any extracurricular activities that you can be proud of, you’ll be fine. Nowadays, colleges don’t really focus on grades and test scores. They want to see personal development/growth. In other words, they want to see who you are as a person. Also, 4 is a great score, so don’t worry.
Wrong!!! Top colleges want it all. Never take advice on college admissions from a 17 year old.
That said, 4’s on AP’s will not hurt you.
^^what @TomSrOfBoston said!
Ditto-- double ditto.
Another vote for @TomSrOfBoston 's advice.
Actually, a 4 is a very good score! And you don’t even need to send AP scores if you don’t want to. AP tests are not like the SAT/ACT.
thank you everyone!! I appreciate you guys taking time to make me feel better about this (:
