...and, unfortunately, it's going on my mid-year report. The test was entirely multiple-choice questions, which I am awful at. This was the case last year, too (I got a 4 on AP Language), and my prep books don't seem to be helping much. I did get a 90 for the semester, though.

Will this nasty grade ruin my chances at highly-selective LACs? I applied to Smith, Mount Holyoke, Wesleyan and Connecticut College. The rest of my mid-year is excellent (I got a 97 on my AP Euro midterm, so maybe this might counter my 70?), and I still have a 4.0 dispite this C, as midterms are only calculated within the final average.

Are you sure your midterm grade is even going to be on the mid term report? Most schools only send the final grade because, after all, that’s the important part…not what you got on one test.

^Yeah, it depends on what your school shows. My school doesn’t reveal midterm trades, only final year grades and, for midyear reports, final semester grades. Check with your GC.

@Drought - My school doesn’t calculate GPAs, only averages, so I have to convert. And this 90 doesn’t bring my average down too much, I’m currently hovering around a ~95.

Thanks for the replies! I’m starting to feel a bit relieved, now. And I’ll see if I can run down to my GC tomorrow morning.
