I got a 9 on essay, is that too low for Penn?

Overall I got 710 on writing, but for the essay I blanked like about half a page some more and didn't have any time to check errors...My other two scores are okay I think..(CR730, M770)

Should I retake SAT in December to increase my essay score because I felt it was a real blemish for me??

Thanks for any advice!!!

I wouldn’t retake it. It is very likely your score will be similar to the one you have now, which is fine. I’ve heard a lot about the SAT as being a checkpoint. If you have a good score, it won’t make or break your application.

I got a 690 in Writing with a 9 on the essay (2170 overall) and I’m here. Just take care of the other parts of the app.

What is a good score considered for CAS ED? And is a 10 essay not considered “good” either?

Lol ive never done any better than an 8 on my essays. Both times ive taken it i always get 8 no matter how hard i try. thankfully my multiple choice score is high enough to cover, 720 and 750 on both times ive taken it in writing. So i dont think its a huge deal that you got a 9 on the essay. its better than me >.<

this time i got a 7 on the essay. with a 730 overall for writing, so yea. i must have gotten like all the multiple choice correct.

Overall colleges really dont care too much about the writing scores…I would not worry about it too much.

I got an 8 on the essay and all the multiple choice right and got a 790 last year. I’m at Penn. don’t worry about it.

they dont really care about that…

SAT essay scores dont mean anything. i’ve seen people who cant speak english well but still scored 10+ on their essays.

thanks for all advice everybody:)

I’ll definetly put more attention on other parts of my app before making a decision:)

yeah i got all the multiple choice and an 8 which was 770. i have the same concern. it’s a good writing score, but the essay stinks
