I got a C in junior year

In the second semester of Junior year, I got a C in my Honors Algebra 2 class. I have A's in all of my other class except for AP English (in which I have a B in) and my GPA is 4.5 (weighted). The C just really bothers me and I was wondering if there is anything I should do about it, or if I should even be worried in the first place.

To give an idea, here are the schools that I plan on applying to so far:
- UCLA
- UC Berkely
- NYU
- Boston University

Will the C ruin my chances of getting in? Also, should I even try to apply to any Ivy leagues, despite the C?

Can you explain some of the circumstances resulting in your C? If you don’t have any, that can be problematic, seeing as it’s in a core course. Not as much as many seeing that your GPA is pretty good otherwise, but it can’t be ignored.

Also, out of curiosity what major(s) are you planning? :)

Though I don’t think you should be that worried about NYU/Boston U. just my 2cents

Won’t help you, but it won’t kill you. I’ve never gotten a C, but you still have a higher GPA then I do, because I’ve gotten so many B’s. I’ll wager UCLA/UCB are matches/high matches, long as you have good essays, and NYU and BU are probably safeties.
