Just saw that I received a D for a Math class. Im not going to be a math major, so I do not need a C or better. What do you suggest I do?

There are times where we get grades that we wish we could erase off our transcripts (for me, it was the “C” I got in Expos last year). Just put it behind you and do better next semester and the other semesters to follow =)

Are you a freshman or sophomore? There is always time to redeem yourself.

If you want to boost your GPA or want to do better in the course perhaps take it again over the summer or take one or two summer/winter classes @ Rutgers that you like and do well in them (like “B+ or A” well)

It doesn’t matter as long as you received the course credits or obtained whatever you needed from the course. Though if it affects your GPA and concerns you, you can always retake the course.

How does that work? GPA wise. It is still calculated, but the credit is subtracted?

Example:

Lets say I have 100 GPA points and 30 Credits with the D (before retaking)

GPA: 3.33

If I retake and get an A, I will have 116 GPA points still with 30 credits?

GPA: 3.86

Something does not seem right here…

Relax - I believe you are allowed two “D” over your four years of undergrad, while your GPA is lowered you still get credit. You will not be able to transfer a “D” to another college if you decide to transfer later. If you finish at Rutgers and receive your degree it just won’t matter. Continue your studies and take advantage of the free tutoring Rutgers offers in many areas to avoid in happening again. Taking a class that interest you will be a better choice for personal growth and learning. You can still graduate with honors if your GPA reaches 3.50 or better.
