I got a D in Honors Geometry during second semester my sophomore year of High School. Can I still get into a UC? What should I do to fix this?

OP is missing a semester of Geometry, not the full year due to a D 2nd semester.

According to the UC application guidelines:
** Geometry: If a student completes geometry and receives a grade of D or F, the student can validate the grade deficiency by completing at least the first semester of an advanced-level math course.**. Advanced level can be Pre-Calculus and Calculus.

OP is also missing a year of Foreign Language so eligibility may be an issue regardless. They are also not a CA HS student, so the Visual and Performing arts requirement is also in question and OP has not responded.

Thanks for clarifying!

After a call with the admissions and a breakdown I can solve this problem of my academic requirements this year by retaking the second semester of Geometry next semester and take my second year of a foreign language through a Community College. The rest of my application is strong I feel, other’s have told me so as well. Just the academic part is a bit lackluster. Those are the only two credits I do not meet regarding my reach schools (UC schools). I have other safety schools, I was just most concerned with my reach ones. Thank you again!

Unfortunately, academics is Very Important for the UC’s, along with HS course rigor and the personal insight essays.

Best of luck and I hope everything works out.
