I was accepted EA & yesterday was my birthday. Also yesterday, i received a card decked out with the Stanford logo in the mail wishing me a wonderful birthday and great year ahead. It was handwritten (in purple ink i might add) and signed with a note at the bottom mentioning she was the adcom for Orange County area (where i live -- assuming this means she was the one reviewing my app). And i've never even met her before :p

IS THAT NOT THE COOLEST THING EVER!?!?!?!??!
i love her :)

i remember when i got my handwritten birthday card
my birthday is december too, like a week after decisions came out

and in january, you will probably get another handwritten note from your admissions officer about what they like about you and why you should come to stanford :)

I got a phone call too! And it wasn’t just about how great of a student I was but she just called to chat. Asked me things like winter break plans, friends’ plans, and life. Why is Stanford so awesome???

Noo! I was called by my admissions counselor as well, but I wasn’t at home to talk! I’ve emailed him with questions though! Why is Stanford so nice and personal to their applicants!? I can’t believe how caring they are!

do you think you could contact your adcom and ask them why you were rejected? well not blatantly like that by something along the lines of "what was the weakest part of my application?

@sicinfit
look, you’re rejected so there’s nothing you can lose. if you can get a hold of her, then i would. it might help you with your other apps. IDK how you would know who your adcom is though…

^sic_infit: no, they will not tell you. they give a generic response that they do not tell rejected applicants. quite frankly, most people probably would not want to know why they were rejected

yes they did give me a generic response, along the lines of we are accepting olympic athletes and kids with patents, published authors…etc. But they said there is no weakness in my application, just too much strength in the applicant pool. Truth - or B.S.??
