I got a letter for LSP. Am I in?

just got a letter from NYU

Which says

I am delighted to learn that you have been selected as a candidate for the Liberal Studies program .By now you should have received your initial packet from the Office of Admissions with information about LS and the steps you must follow to secure your place in the incoming class. I write now to tell you more about our program so that you can make an informed decision about attending NYU

(.......some information about Liberal Studies program..........)

.
.

As the Dean of Liberal Studies, I would like to congratulate you on your outstanding academic credentials. Only a Very small number of the 38000 high school students who apply to nyu each year have the opportunity to attend LS, and you should be very proud to be among them. We would be equally proud to welcome you to NYU in fall 2009.

Does this mean I got into NYU? im confused, because in the first paragraph, they call me a candidate, but on the last paragraph, they tell me that I should be proud to be one of "small number of the 38000 high school students who apply to nyu each year have the opportunity to attend LS"

The letter also says I should've received the packet which I have not received yet

Someone help me out please !

What you don’t realize, NYUMinute, is that LSP students are allowed to take CAS classes, and CAS students are allowed to take LSP classes. So you and the OP may end up sitting side by side, and he just may end up doing better than you, just like I outperform many of my CAS classmates in our classes. The 1st day of college everyone will be trying to make friends, and no one cares what school you’re in - an arrogant attitude is a big turn-off though. So Congrats on getting into NYU, I genuinely hope you’ll love this school, but please leave you attitude at the door. It won’t do you any good here - perhaps you were the smart kid back in high school, but you’ll be surrounded by hundreds of smarter students before long, and no one likes a jerk. :)

OP - yes, of course you got in - don’t be so insecure! congrats.

It means you weren’t competetive enough to get into the school you applied to, but since they don’t like to use waiting lists, they enroll some students they would normally put on the waitlist in LSP. LSP is a two year program, and afterwards you can enroll in the regular NYU school of your choice. Sorry, but you’re not IN in, you’re in LSP, not what people think of when they hear NYU-though like the poster above me said, nobody cares, you’ll get the same degree as everyone else, just by taking a different path. Congrats!

Oh wow, thats a great news then, ha ha !
Now, I applied econ major at CAS but if I ever wanted to transfer into Stern school of business, is there any possible way?

I read theards abouts LS students not being able to transfer to stern, but the LS website says you can.
Confused again !

My question : Would I be able to transfer into stern any time in my NYU undergrad years?

bjoonsup

I think you got the letter before the package which should have come first. I’d call them to let them know that. It may be lost in the mail.

bjoonsup, you are IN in. Congratulations.

Your in, but I don’t think you can transfer into Stern.

hi i am in LSP too. lol …so where r u from ?

What they mean is that: Have you received the email that gave you the choice to pick from NYC/London/Paris/Florence? They don’t give out packets until April 1st for international students.

And yes you’re in as long as you’ve chosen your campus.

jls1215, I’m an international student from Korea who goes to school in Ohio

Sillyworld, admission officer resent me the mail three days ago and I have received it. I only got to pick from three international places.
