it came from the University of California. I can easily validate my activity, but I just want to know if there are factors about this that I should be worried about?

Thanks.

The UC system is known for this.
They pick some applicants randomly and verify exactly one item on their application. Don't worry.

are UC schools the only ones known to do this?

I agree it sounds like a random thing.

Also I don't think there's anything to worry about...your application is most likely at least being considered seriously or they wouldn't go through the trouble.

I didn't realize that colleges had this much time to go through all this... is UC the only school that does this?

What EC do they want you to verify?

Since you can "easily" verify it, you have no reason to worry at all

Wait, so is something like this NOT-VALID?

Say, you started volunteering at X. Instead of starting right at the beginning of school year (around Sept.) you started in December and finished the year after till school year ended. Would that still count as 1 year?

I sure hope not. As far as I'm concerned all schools should verify EC's wayyy more often.

hmmm I'd be kind of worried if I had to verify my Key Club thing, only because the President of our Key Club never kept good records... and while I did stuff on there, I never could make any of the meetings...

mmm

i got this as well.

i had to verify i went to a summer school class i mentioned in my personal statement.

i was worried too, but i don't care so much now since it's supposedly random.

What other colleges do this? I've never heard of it happening...

Also, how exactly do you validate it?

^^^Letter from teacher?

wow it sucks how you have to verify it.
i can only see two possibilities-
1) you are like one of those borderline kids so they want to verify-a good thing which probably might let you get in
2) they think the stuff is invalid.

i'm pretty sure it's just a random check to make sure applicants don't lie on their application.

i doubt it has much significance beyond that.

and to verify my summer school class i just sent in a transcript.

it's more than just a random check -- the UCs purposely sample apps from each campus to verify ECs and awards. And, no, its just not borderline kids. A friend's son was a 4.0/2400/3x800/5-AP 5's, and his app was audited by SD.

what is it about if it isn't just a "random" check?

it most likely is just a statistical sampling. Apps on the bubble get a different letter requesting additional information, such as family or low income status, etc.

ok yah i think it's just a random check. one of my friends got one and i really doubt she is borderline anything.

Yup, it's a random check. I heard it was around 10% of all applications. Don't worry.

... or should you be WORRIED??? O.o?
