Wow I can't believe this if this is true. I just tossed the postcard thinking it was a generic one. Guess I should've checked here first. I'm almost afraid to accept that this might be true...

Southern NJ too!!! Nice

Southern NJ too!!! Nice

Update: I got a postcard and today I got my acceptance.

Wait, this is weird. Are likely letters sent only to the best applicants? Because I can't see myself being in that company. I'm out of state and am ranked 74/556 in my really competitive high school with a 2320 composite SAT. But I definitely got this postcard... I'm not sure what to think.

Your rank isn't the best, but your SATs would fall into that category... so pending the rest of your application, you could fall into that category, especially if your HS sends its top 100 kids to very good schools.

I got the postcard, but haven't received an acceptance yet... Perhaps:

It's because I'm not a Monroe Scholar (probable)

I'm OOS (unlikely)

The postcard didn't mean anything (hopefully not!)

Any of these scenarios fit?

I agree, 1 may be the reason. Although "4. It will come on Monday because of 2" is always a possibility!

getsilly,

My son is OOS_from IL
He got the post card and he did get his acceptance as a Monroe Scholar yesterday.

My son is OOS from FL
He got the post card then acceptance as a Monroe Scholar too.

hey getsilly,

i'm from nj too and i got a postcard and i didn't get my acceptance yet
i live in central jersey...where do you live?

My S got a post-card but nothing after that.
My S's friend got no postcard, got admission letter and no monroe.
Many CC-ers have got post-card, admissions and monroe.

So all kinds of things going on.

I'm in Southern NJ. Camden County.

So maybe this wasn't a likely letter after all...

:(

Maybe your right? Maybe this wasn't really a "likely letter"
I asked my guidance counselor what it meant and she was like "oh hmm its not really a likely letter, they're just telling you to keep up your schoolwork"

I wonder if anyone from nj got any letter after getting a postcard?

Yea, I'm really upset too :(

Did anyone who got this postcard get waitlisted or rejected?

i STILL haven't gotten anything yet!

Me either! I’m guessing next Wednesday. Again, did any in-staters who got this postcard get rejected or waitlisted?

Just an update. My S (in state) was accepted. Our mail was misplaced and reached us after 7 days. He got one of those postcards we termed a “likely letter”.

Got my acceptance today. Seems that the postcards were definitely likely letters.

:)
