I got a research opportunity.... but which one is better?

I'm a junior and this summer I got a research opportunity with a college professor.
He told me he does several research and that I could choose one.
The problem is I like all the choices so it's kinda hard for me to decide.

I was considering to enter Intel or Siemens next year, so in addition to my interest, I want to consider about which topic would have less competition

So, here are my choices:
1) Cancer research
2) research on Malaria (the professor is really famous for his research in Malaria. He is like on the list for nomination for Nobel Prize....; But the problem is there is only one other kid who is currently doing this research with him, and he is not that smart. This matters because the professor told me if I'm doing a research on Malaria there is a big possibility that I have to pair up with him for the competitions, and I want to do with someone who knows what they are doing and who I can learn from because research is a new thing for me)
3) a research about a new disease regarding liver.

Any suggestions???
For me, it's between cancer or Malaria, but are there alot of kids doing cancer research??
Any advice?
