Yeah so today I checked my mail and there was a large white envelope. I thought, "hmm, this is too early for admission," so I opened it up and it contained a likey letter from the engineering school

March 8th
"The Committee on Admission has reviewed your applicaion to the University of Viriginia School of Engineering and Applied Science and found it impressive. Your academic record is unusually strong; so are you achievements outside the classroom. In our experience, students like you tend to move successfully through their college years and into positions of leadership in their fields of interest. I trust that this will be the case with you and I encourage you to continue challenging yourself."

I already got the regular likely letter that was dated March 3rd. As you can tell, the wording was the same save for a few words inserted about engineering. Did anyone else get such a letter? What does this mean? Is this a sign that I am being considered for the Rodman Scholars program?

This may be a Rodman! Dont know why they would specifically state the engineering school if not? Hmmm

What exactly was the wording of the first "likely" letter?

The Committee on Admission has reviewd your application and found it impressive. Your academic record, as you are probably aware, is unusally strong; so are your achievments outside the classroon. In our experience, students who have distinguished themselves in such a wide range of activities tend to move successfully through their college years and into positions of leadership in their fields of interesting. I trust that this will be the case with you and I encourage you to continue challenging yourself....

...Please give serious consideration to the University of Virginia where you might continue to grow and thrive...

Both letters had additional general information about the school after this first parpagraph.

hmm, I have no clue. You're probably in.

hey the exact same thing happened to me. the only thing they changed on the new letter was "UVA" --> UVA college of engineering" has reviewed your app. If we're up for rodman's... when do we find out?

I guess some kids from last year found out on the 15th of March through an e-mail.

Yeah, I got the second likely letter too. =)

im prolly up for it too. i applied for engineering.

how is UVa for pre-med if I go into the bio medical field?

UVA has a very good biomedical engineering program, you'd have one hell of a fun time doing premed stuff and being a biomedical engineering major - and I mean that sarcastically. The major is enough work as it is, and adding more on top would certainly not make things any easier.

ok then I don't know where I'm going.

I'd rather get worked hard as heck at Harvard than do at UVa... and I really mean that.

At UVa, I'd select it because I can excellent socially as well as academically. I don't plan to be in my dorm most of the time, unless I need to be.

w00t got the letter.

has such a cool letterhead... plus it's got a bunch of stuff. i thought it was an acceptance at first.

it is...basically :)

If they have reviewed the application to send two likely letters, why not just send the acceptance? Why not have rolling admissions? I can't say I'm not happy to have both of these letters, but what's the point?
