Alright
I'm asking this cuz I don't know anything about living in dorm or in campus.
I currently attend Community college in Florida and will be moving into university next term.
What are the policies with bringing potentially harmful stuff into dorm? or compus
like anywhere from airsoft gun, paint ball guns, knife, to pistol to hunting rifle.
my family is thinking of moving out of country when I move to university so I wanna bring as much of my things (as a male, i do have some guy stuff) possible.
I don't want to give my pistol to my cousins (i don't know what they are gonna do with it as non of them have handled pistol before) nor I want to spend money to rent storage room and pay monthly.

is there anyway I could bring those things to dorm? or even have, let say, university police hold them for me except on the days i go to ranges.

yeha I should but I was wondering how it’s like in other schools.

I just don’t wanna cause any possible troubles.
and I wouldn’t leave my pistol in the drawer

when I say bring the stuff to dorm, I don’t mean into dorm rooms.
I was wondering whether there is security or secure place where I could put my dangerous stuff securely without causing any trouble

I wouldn’t be asking this question if I could leave my stuff at home…
but my home might no longer be here in few years.

“Any weapon or firearm on University property, if permitted, must be registered and stored at the campus police station or ROTC building as appropriate.”

thanks technol21! that’s what I was looking for.

I looked around my university housing site, but nothing regarding weapons were there

this means my university might allow me to bring my stuff as long as I register and give it to police station, which sounds better than leaving it to my cousins. xD

At my school you can bring most kinds of guns but you have to leave them with the campus police and come get them whenever you want to go shooting. I know you can do it with shotguns and I think rifles, not sure about pistols.

Dude, if you are moving ALL your stuff out of your parents’ house, you will NOT have enough room in your dorm anyway. I have guns at home, I’d feel awkward bringing them to college, but I definitely wouldn’t trust leaving them somewhere on campus that isn’t secure. Send some emails or calls to the campus police and ask them before doing anything. That’s your best bet, imo.

welllz
I kinda said it wrong by saying ALL, I guess I CAN leave my books, desks, and some stuff of big stuffs at my cousin’s house. I just don’t wanna leave weapons to them. by the way i don’t have any hunting rifle, i do have A pistol though and metal framed airsoft guns.

In most states you need a concealed weapons permit but I’m pretty sure that that doesn’t allow them on school grounds. Either way, I’d bring it and not tell anyone about it. Keep it unloaded.

Seriously though, if you are moving most of your stuff out, just pay for a ****ing storage unit. Of course, I don’t know if i’d trust my guns in there either. They get broken into too often.

yeha.
I don’t trust my stuff in storage room.
I contacted university police. they said they will store it for me. I trust police more than a storage room.

i say as long as u hide it well and dont tell anybody about it
u shld just bring it to the dorms >:D
lol. nobody searches ur room or anything. (well unless u wear smoking or drinking)
so just dont ever do that kind of stuff in ur room =]

agua that’s pretty terrible advice. If my roommate brought weapons into the room I would tell, I wouldn’t want to feel responsible if they turned out to be a psycho. And at my school you have to submit to a safety inspection at the end of every semester. I am told they just check the windows and the locks and stuff but if they stumbled across a gun I am sure they’d say something.
