What were your stats?

3.2 but only because bad freshman year, on my trans it shows this year and last year are all A's. 510 Cr 620 M. Tons of hours, sick recom letters, three sports, a bunch of jobs, and out of state

Nah, it's more fun this way. Come on, people. You're all smart, enterprising students. Figure it out. :D

Chris

By any chance do you know the percentage of EA applicants accepted or possibly the average stats they had? haha

Not yet... we really won't know that until the final numbers come out in the fall. There are still a lot of EA applicants who haven't completed their applications (i.e., we're still missing a transcript and/or a test score or whatever).

Chris

sbuadmissions could you please!!!!!! clear this "new student" link up???

Judging by Chris's smiley faces, it probably means what you think it means.

However, it doesn't particularly matter. It's really awesome to get into Stony Brook but I'm sure most of you still won't be making your decisions until your compare your offers in April.

Relax guys, the decisions -will- come out in a couple of days and then you'll know for sure.

I just wrote a new thread, but here it is again...
I think I can put that "new student" thing to rest.
I got my acceptance letter today from Stony Brook & my SOLAR thing had that "new student" link there for a few days already now, since I started checking it.

Though the letter was dated "January 30th, 2008" and it's the 26th. It makes me think they just used last year's letter and changed "2007" to "2008"...

I had the new student link as well before i received my acceptance for early action and that was in early december so it probably does mean you are accepted haha. I haven't heard of anyone beingrejected...

That's because we haven't sent out the deny letters yet.

Congrats to all of you who have received -- and will be receiving -- letters soon!

The Stony Brook Admissions Blog: A Day In The Life, Part III

Chris

Ohhh no wonder haha

And I really like your blog:D

So do the rejects get updates febuary first?

^ i hope not

i got that "new student" thing, but i think it can be implied from the admission dude's responses that it doesn't mean much. i don't think i got in, since one of my friends got a letter already. ah well - only two days left to bear.

^actually, i think what sbuadmissions said was a good sign..

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/suny-stony-brook/294515-acceptance-letter-3.html
on the 4th post, chris (sbuadmissions) said this:

"Yep, that's been the dirty little secret that we weren't able to do anything about with the SOLAR system. There's a delay between the system decision and when it appears on the student's screen; that gives the admissions letter and packet time to get there.

But if your screen changed, and you see "New Student Preferences," you can safely say that we consider you a new student, so unofficially, congrats!"

hopefully that's true. my friends all got the new student preferences and they got their acceptance package 2 days ago, but i still didn't.. =(

Hang in there, everyone... when all's said and done, we'll be sending out around 10,000 letters. They can't all be printed and mailed in the same day... that's why we say "starting February 1."

Chris

I didn't get the new student thing... so I am kind of worried. If I am rejected from SBU, I will remain positive. Everything happens for a reason. However, It would be extremely nice to get into my first choice college. All that really matters in the end is that I am able to receive a great education so I can fulfill my own idea of the American Dream. Learning is the most powerful tool given to me and I plan to make the best out of any obstacles that stand in my way.

mrusso15, where else did you apply?

SUNY Queens , SUNY New Paltz(rejected) , St. Johns(accepted) , Hofstra and C.W. Post. I am trying to stay in the area.

I'm sorry about NP. But I'm sure things will work out for the best.
Good luck with SB.

Chris, I have a question. If you applied for honors college at Stonybrook, will you be getting your decision letter in March or will you still be getting your decision starting Feb. 1st?
