i got accepted but says its in review?

yepunsarang - I applied to honors and the WISE programs at Stony Brook, but I got my acceptance letter to general stony brook last weekend.

So watch out for that. But the notification about honors/WISE I don't believe comes until sometime in March. Chris can correct me if I'm wrong...

Your admission to the university is completely unrelated to your HC/WISE decision; your admissions decision is made by our office, the HC/WISE offer is made by those departments. That comes in March.

Chris

Thank you perfected and Chris! perfectedxchaos, did your status online also say you were accepted before you recieved your letter? Or did you recieve your letter before your status? I applied to Stonybrook quite early on this year and i'm wondering why I haven't heard from them yet.

I got my letter first

With EA I got online notification like 13 days before the acceptance package.

My letter in the mail came before my online status was changed.

Thanks guys for replying! Haha--I guess i'll check my mailbox in case my situation is like yours.

My status changed today to accepted. Before that, it said that my application was being prepared for review. It's a great relief to get in. I haven't received a letter yet, though.

Mmm---still no news. Why is stony taking so long?

Accepted! I finally got my nice package through the mail. I too, got the mailing before the decision was put online.

I just applied in mid Feb so I have not heard anything yet.

Hello all, just a question for all that got accepted and (hopefully) sbuadmissions:
I'm currently attending SUNY Farmingdale and applied to Stony Brook for Fall admission in early January (01/07/08 to be exact). I got my letter in the mail with my Solar ID and password to check the application status in mid january. In early february I realized I hadn't sent my transcript from Hofstra (where I attended Freshman year of college right out of high school). I sent Stony Brook my Hofstra Transcript the first week of February. Last tuesday (02/26/08) they updated my Solar application status site. It now has a gold colored box at the top of the page with my name, application number, and it says: Admit Term: Fall 2008, Campus: Main, Program: Arts and Sciences (I applied for Bio major) but under that it says my application is still in review. Does it look good? How much longer do you think until I receive official notice? BTW, i currently have a 3.02 GPA and 46 Credits. I will be going into SBU (if admitted) with 60 Credits, and a (most likely) higher GPA. Any words of wisdom?

D2000R - You didn't send them Farmingdale's transcript?

A little confusing read, but it sounds like an admission to me. Give it a few days and you should have something in the mail.

Chris

Sorry for the confusing read guys. To sum it up, I applied to Stony Brook on 01/07, completed the app, paid the app fee and sent them my SUNY Farmingdale transcript. About 2 weeks later (roughly 1/15) i got the letter with my Solar ID and password. It wasn't until about the first week of february that I realized I never sent them my Hofstra transcript, so I forwarded that to them before SBU sent me a letter saying they needed it. Finally last tuesday (2/26) they updated my Solar website with a gold box that now says: My Name, Admit Term: Fall 2008, Campus: Main, Program: Undergrauate, Arts and Sciences. Right below that gold box it says "your application has been received and is being reviewed. I've been checking my mail box everyday and checking the Solar page religiously for a response, i'm on pins and needles here, hahaha. Again, I hope this clears things up, sorry for the confusing initial post and thanks for the quick response (esp SBUAdmissions).

The same thing happened to me and I'm still waiting for a response....I check my status every morning and night haha.

Received my acceptance on March 10, but I'm still waiting to here from a couple other schools.

Hey Chris,
Does Stony Brook interview everyone they consider for the Scholars for Medicine program?

My friend got an interview letter and he's interviewing on the 26th. However, I haven't gotten anything yet. Should i be worried?

Do you know how for how long interviews are done? Also, when do finial decisions for the Scholars for Med come in?

Thanks

Good question. WISE and Honors recommend about 40 people in total to the School of Medicine, but I think they only interview about 20.

And keep in mind, they get literally thousands of applications for those spots. It's no failure if you don't get interviewed.

Chris

Thanks for replying so quickly Chris.

So I still have a chance even if I don't get interviewed?

Also, do you know how many are finally accepted for the Scholars of Med program? Thanks
