I got Accepted to Carnegie Mellon?

Hey
I just received a phone call from an admissions rep from Carnegie Mellon….she said “I am just calling to tell you that I’ve been keeping track and things are looking good for you…” She also invited me to an admitted student celebration weekend (April) ….
I guess I got in to CMU…..with a 1760 SAT score.

All I can say is thank God (and Buddha) for Physics, Research opportunities for high school students....and affirmative action!

heh heh heh.....congrats...

did u get in for computer engineering?

nah...i applied for Materials Engineering

ohh....CS ENGINEERING is hard to get in from what i kno...

Wow, congrats. I have not heard anything from CMU/CIT besides an email telling me when I'll get my decision. I applied for MechE? Either that or materials.

I wouldn't be so quick to thank affirmative action. Thank your personal achievements first and foremost, and really, nothing else.

congrats!!!!

congrats my friend.

thanx everyone

If you're thanking Buddha, then you're probably not thanking affirmative action. It tends to hurt Asians (I'm assuming that you are. Correct me if I'm wrong) more than help them.

You got in on 100% merit. Congrats!

I am Dominican (100%)---Hispanic

Oh. Then I suppose affirmative action helped a bit, but it only does so much. You still got in mostly on merit.

a 1760 is not merit by any means for cmu heavenwood..fyi.

Merit, as in his accomplishments, both academically and otherwise.

Xindianx, it's more than SATs that get you into college.

your race as well - I'm guessing

Who better to know themselves than the applicants, and judging from his comments... you know the rest.
