I just got my acceptance card in the mail yesterday and told me i was accepted into FSU. I was suprised to hear back from them so soon but im glad they accepted me. They also gave me a website to go to for a checklist and all that stuff. This just made all the stress of college apps and waiting so much easier....DId anyone else get in and good luck!!!

I was told to apply for the CARE program since I meet all the criteria, but I didn’t actually do it. I wanted to try to make it in the hard way, but now that I think about it, that was a stupid decision.

Congrats! Are you a junior or a senior? I ask because I know some seniors who did it in their junior year (in the summer).

Senior…

Congrats. Work hard and take advantage of all that CARE has to offer. You will love FSU.

Thank you and i will work extremely hard and i think i will love fsu toooooo

What is the CARE Program?

Welcome to the Tribe. :)

What are your GPAs and Scores?

I got into the CARE program too. I would love to know someone before I actually get there.

QB, I strongly suggest you accept FSU’s offer and the CARE program. You are more likely to achieve what you want at FSU than any of the other schools you are asking about.

See: [State: More blacks succeed at FSU](http://www.sptimes.com/2007/11/19/State/More_blacks_succeed_a.shtml)

What does the CARE program pay for?
Im hearing so many different things.

dmontealegre18 - I can only tell what CARE “paid for” in regard to my daughter. And actually, it was FSU through a grant that paid for it. The point of CARE is to make sure the participants have access to every possible resource in order to retain them and assist them in becoming successful students and professionals. CARE paid for the entire mandatory first semester (Summer Bridge Program) to the tune of about $4600. This included her tuition for 7 classes (you are not allowed to take more than 7 during that first summer) and the transportation fees, technology fees, etc. that go along with tuition, her summer housing in Landis (she had a private room - it did not cost more to have a private room, you just had to request one immediately), her books (estimated costs, her books were actually less), her meal plan (19 meals a week), ~$200 in Flex bucks to use at other campus eateries, her health insurance (which she did not need as we have our own) and then ~$400 for incidentals, etc. You still get all of the estimated funds even if you do not need them with the exception of the funds prorated for your tuition. If you take 6 hours you get less tuition money. Anyway, since she did not need the health insurance and her books cost less than the budgeted amount she was sitting on ~$1,000 to use as necessary once her financial aid disbursed. She was the recipient of a $397 PELL grant and the rest of these funds were given to her through an FSUG. For the Fall she was considered for (and granted) the First Generation Grant of $3,000 which is not available to the rest of the student population outside of CARE and then give other grants and scholarships totalling ~$11,000. We still had to use her $300 PELL grant and her loans to make ends meet. If you are not eligible for PELL then you will not be given a grant for the Summer Bridge Program - you are considered a self-pay. This information is accurate as of July 2011. I do not know what changes have been made between then and now. I hope that helps.
