I wanna go Armor and blow **** up

michaelburt, don't say you know what you're getting into, because you don't. I thought I knew what I was getting into, but I didn't either. That's ok, though. If you come, you'll figure it out.

From what I have heard you must have a real desire to be in the military and an officer leading people. If your going to go to west point just because its a top school and you'll get a good education, your not going to make it through beast. You need to evaluate not only what life will be like when you get there but when you get in the actual army and have a service commitment. I agree with marines4me, its impossible to know what your getting into, but by researhing the institution, you can have a better idea and prepare yourself for it.

P.S. marines4me long time no see...hope WP is treating you well :)

Eh, I don't know how well WP treats anyone over all--but I''m making it, and there are good times as well as bad ones.

It's still amazing to me how so many people that DON'T come here to be in the Army actually survive--it's really disinheartening to those of us who DO want to be in the Army to see it. But ya know, West Point isn't the real Army. I learned that very, very quickly. But it is important to research it here--I'd highly suggest looking at all of the pictures on the USMA website of Beast. They give a pretty good picture of what Beast is like.

Did you enjoy Gen. Washington's pumpkin this morning? (Courtesy of F-3 spirit mission last night?)

Hah, I saw that last night--we had a good laugh on the way back from Grant. We're gonna go back out tonight and take a picture!

marines4me i know how you feel. i'm at the naval academy right now and I'm surprised at how many people are here that don't actually have a desire to be in the military. some of them just came for varsity sports and just want to do their time on a ship staying as far away from any trouble as possible. im sure as the years progress more and more of those people will get weeded out. the way i see it, the academies are a long process of attrition, and as you progress through the ranks the path you tread gets more precarious. just the other day a 2/c in my company got kicked out. hope things go well for you up there in the cold. i'll see you in december...only 35 days till navy beats army : )

you'll find the same attitude in the regular army. Some people don't want to be there and are just doing their time for the benefits theyll receive. Thats okay though. You don't have to want to do this for the rest of your life to do a good job for a few years. Still, some people are just ate up and don't desire to flip burgers at BK
