I got deferred and OSU is my top school. Do I still have a good chance of getting in?

I have a 34 ACT and a 3.5 GPA, I know it’s a bit under average, but with mostly AP and Honors classes. I recently got deferred, but OSU is really the only school I applied to that I have much passion of attending. Is there even a good chance I could get in during regular admissions? Is there many people who get deferred who still get in? I am in-state if that changes anything. I read something about emailing a representative and expressing further interest. Is this something I should do? I don’t really want to attend a branch campus, so OSU main is really the only option I’m considering so that’s why I’m wondering if I still have a good chance of getting in, or if being deferred is basically a rejection.

Thanks in advance.

Your stats are still excellent, so there’s a good chance you’ll get in, especially if you’re a OH resident. Keep in mind, getting in is only half the battle. If you want to major n something employable like business, computers, engineering, etc, it’s going to be hyper-competitive. Keep a backup school or two handy just in case.

My son got deferred then got in and only has like a 3.4 gpa. He has 1500 sat and a very rigorous and ‘interesting’ course load (tons of music classes, big athlete etc) so it seems you should have a good shot. We are from CA.

Has anyone heard anything today?
