i got expelled....will colleges rescind me??

so i was involved in a prank at school in which we pretended to be the computer admin and asked a couple of our friends for their passwords.
the school found out and we were dismissed after completing first semester.
i have transferred to a public school for second semester and will graduate from there.
i have already gotten into purdue, scu, bu, and rice.
i have sent a letter to all the colleges explaining what happened, and why i got dismissed, and what i learnt from it. i am also gonna call the admissions offices and talk to them about it too.
do you think that they will still rescind their admission?

i think they will, but post back the results!

Rescission is probably likely. You’re at their mercy; being sincerely contrite is your best approach moving forward.

Good luck.

It looks like you have another problem – you applied to two ED schools, Rice and BU. That’s against the terms of the ED contract. How did your guidance counselor let that get through?

if your school signed off for you to apply ED to two schools; why would they have a problem with misrepresenting yourself as an comp admin to get passwords?

So which is it…are you the son or the mom?

Your “mom” says you didn’t get accepted to BU…but “you” say you did. Which is it?

Hard to give you good advice with such conflicting information.

no sorry…i didnt apply to bu early…only rice early

You need to contact RICE ASAP. You need to find out if your acceptance to Rice is in jeopardy.

And which are you…the parent or the son?

im the son…my mom posted in the parents section…but used the same account.
do you think that my letter to the admissions office expressing my regret will have any impact on any of the colleges?

January 1, 1990 (20)

And is this really your birthday (from your profile)? if so, you aren’t a high school senior.

no…its not my real bday…im 16 btw…

You need to find out ASAP whether your acceptance to Rice ED is in jeopardy since you are REQUIRED to accept that ED admissions offer very soon. That is the most important question to have answered.

You’re 16? wow…very young for a high school senior. The worst thing that could happen is you take a gap year and perhaps do something worthwhile during that year. When you reapply in a year, you will be the same age (actually still on the young side) for students applying as incoming freshmen.

ya so my mom contacted the rice interviewer he said that id probably have to get reevaluated…
so we were wondering if Purdue would also rescind or would they be a bit more lenient?

The Rice interviewer is just an alumni interviewer. Means nothing. You need to contact the admissions office directly. I do think that they withdraw the offer though. It’s a pretty serious offense.

i know what we did was wrong…but it was just a joke to a couple of our friends…
we didnt mean to change grade or anything bad like that…
it was just like a prank to mess around with our friends that went awry…

Rice has a STRONG honor code. They take that stuff seriously.

what about purdue?

■■■■■
bump.

bobster-
Why not ask on the Purdue forum?

ntrading - The schools will tell the college when they send updated transcripts. They might or might not have also noticed that his high school changed for his 8th semester even though he didn’t move, but like I said the first high school has to send updated information. Much better to get in front of it.

This might be a ■■■■■, given the conflicting and erroneous information from previous posts. Whatever, if it is legit and you really want Rice I would get on a plane, meet with the admissions officer there, and let them know it was what you thought was a harmless prank that, as you say, went terribly wrong. And that you have completely learned never to go near that kind of behavior again. And you have to mean it all, lying at this point would really doom you.
