I got four internships... HELP ME DECIDE!!!

Hello, I'm Junior in high school and like most people I'm trying to enter a good college to major in a Business field.

Well I got four internships:

Unpaid internship at an private investment banking/ financial services firm called THE SHEMANO GROUP. - I get to learn about investment banking and assist with finding investors and par take in the field itself+ practical work experience

Paid Internship at Chiron- Project management clerk position in which I will need to conduct studies and interviews with Scientist and work with project management + practical work experience.

Paid Internship at The port of Oakland- Basic clerical duties... The port of Oakland is the 4th largest port in the West coast

Paid internship at East Bay Air Management District- I will be able to work for programs and projects that help save the environment + practical work experience.

I got all four internships, which path should I fallow? which one is the most prestige’s towards colleges?

thanks

Please, please, PLEASE make a decision based on your interests and not what you or somebody else thinks "is the most prestige's towards colleges."

Along those lines, the investment banking internship sounds like a really unique opportunity — there are very few banking programs for high school students. However, that's generally for good reason, due to the skills required, which makes me wonder how practical your work experience would be. Also, you need to be 18 years old to actually handle most contractual issues by yourself (and all financial management and banking is contractual!) It sounds like this internship would be primarily job shadowing.

While a banking internship is best suited for a pre-business major, you don't by any means need it to be well-credentialed on your application, and you should recognize that your career plans are highly likely to change. Your level of interest should be more important than a hazy impression of prestige.

Besides, getting paid is a big plus. Among the paid options, I would consider the type of work as the primary determining factor. If clerical tasks appeal, go with one of those, but I personally would lean most heavily in favor of the environmental option.

But all that's based on my interests/preferences. Go with yours.

And no, none is especially better suited to your college application than another. If you have fun and learn something, that might help your application.

thats really cool! lol, ya, id go with the investment banking one also, but how did you approach these opportunties? Did you call, email, mail...?

I'm starting to lean on to the Chiron internship simply because it's a 8 to 5 job and I get paid. But also because I get to have business experience by working along with project managers and PhD scientist.

The unpaid internship at the investment banking firm seems like a good investment =) Also it is very flexible. Most people there work part time jobs and also have an internship placement. The EBAMD internship is 20 hours a week, and the investment banking one says I should atleast put into 20 hours when ever I like. So theres a chance i'll be doing both.

I found all these simply by going to my school to career counselor who gave me a stack of oppurtunities ( OR THOSE FOUR.)

As for my work experience goes... I am a Coro Northern California Exploring leadership alumni.

Coro.org

Is it possible to get an internship if you've had no work experience before? I'm trying to get one for one of my state's US senators and the only job I've ever had was doing canvassing for another politician's senate campaign last year. (They weren't running against this guy tho)

I got into my exploring leadership program (along with an internship) with no experience... but you really had to show your stuff...

the entire selection process was 4 hours, with a 30 min interveiw. The rest of the time we did certain leadership excercises in which we were judged/observed by 25 individuals, who were either phD, company leaders, public/nonprofit directors.

The invesment banker internship is hard to find! Go for it, it will be worth your while!

Wow thoes are all such awsome choices, l live in the same area and also want to study business, how did you get all thoes offers, i'm going to be a junior this year and want an internship during the school year, how can i find one?
