hey guys i just got into cornell and im excited as heck, and i dont know if this question has been asked already but is there a deadline for this?

im hoping its later in the year cus i really want to know if i got into rice for interim decision.. just for curiosity. thanks.

im in for engineering by the way, good job to acceptees and good luck to deferred guys

hey i also applied to rice for interim decision.

but you must withdraw once they send you your official notification because not withdrawing from rice will knock someone out or waitlist someone who really wants to go to rice. and that's not fair.

calling that selfish when i dont even know yet if im being considered for admission is a little harsh... and i didnt think of it from rice's point of view since im obviously preoccupied with freaking out about cornell

not necessarily rice's point of view, but another student who wants to go to rice. you got in to cornell, and good job for that, but if you need more ego boosters aside from an ivy league school than thats pretty pathetic if you ask me.

guys, chill out!!! he just wants to know, he never said that he was PURPOSELY and maliciously trying to take someone elses spot by waiting. he was just curious about what the rules were!! i guess i would be curious about other schools too, but it doesnt matter cause i didnt get into cornell anyway. but yeah, it would be mean to question someone else's spot by keeping your mouth shut.

You should withdraw apps ASAP. That way they will know not to include you in their decisions, and will be able to offer a student your space (if you were to be accepted) If you were offered admissions already anywhere, you should decline that ASAP too.

I just made a generic email thanking the schools for their consideration, and included my full name and SSN, asking them to withdraw my app.

But don't you have to wait till you get the official letter before withdrawing everything else? what if the online decision and the letter contradict?

Yes, you should wait for your official decision; our mistake for assuming that was understood. Once you have been officially accepted to Cornell, then withdraw.

People got upset because it wouldn't be fair to do what you were suggesting you might do, even though you suggested it innocently. But now that you see it from the point of another student who wants to attend, I'm sure you understand our semi-harsh response. Get ready to enjoy Cornell.

I still love how when people ask where I go to college and I say Cornell, I get "daaaamn, you're smart" or "we've got a smartie here" or "woow, i'd never get in there" and all that stuff. It's not quite the effect of the H-bomb (saying you attend(ed) Harvard), but I've got to say, we've got a bit of a C-Bomb. It actually happened to me again in the jewelery store today as I was getting my new watch fitted. :D:D:D
