Everyone has always told me UT Austin is so difficult to get into, and even more so if you're out of state. I'm a transfer student from Colorado and I was admitted to the College of Natural Sciences with a 3.4 GPA, with 100+ Community Service hours and two letters of recommendation.

I would definitely go to UT if out of state tuition weren't so expensive or if I was a resident. Because of this I probably won't go. This just goes to show you can never really know. Everyone told me I wouldn't get in!

Mecha…congratulations! I think many more out of state students will see positive admission decisions this year with a 25% admission slot for holistic applications. Did you fill out the scholarship information. If not, it is not too late. Deadline is Dec 1, and you may get an OOS waiver. It’s a great school. Don’t give up on it!

It was for Spring 2011. I found out the deadline has passed for an OOS tution waiver, that sucks. Oh well, the program at Colorado State University that I am planning on is probably a better fit for me anyway. I really wish I could give my acceptance to someone else who could use it, but anyway I posted this as an inspiration to those who don’t think they’ll get in.
