Congratulations to all the new Noles! For those who didn't gain acceptance, I know its difficult, especially if FSU was your #1, but there are so many great colleges and I am confident that it will all work out in the end.

College admissions has become extremely difficult in recent years and the economic downturn has compounded this issue by increasing the number of students applying to state universities.

We have one s at FSU and another who will be applying to college this summer, so we will be going through this process once again.

Oh my gosh! He only applied at FSU and waited till the deadline. We just knew he would be scrambling for a second choice at the last minute!! Whoo hoo!! The whole fam is meeting at the local Campus Town store to load up on shirts, bumperstickers, etc. I hope they make a Noles Grandpa bumpersticker. My dad went to UF!!

Congratulations! Welcome to the Tribe!

Don't forget the FSU license plate(s)!

BPoland, congrats on getting in! My daughter got in too and is soooo excited. My husband and I grew up in Maine and I just wanted to tell you that you can safely leave your LLBean Boots at home! We both went to UMO and ended up walking to classes backwards some days so that the wind, snow and cold wouldn't totally freeze our faces. You will enjoy going to school down here! Congrats again!

Congratulations and best wishes to all of you new Seminoles!
Best of luck to those who were not admitted as well.
Take the path that was presented to you with an open mind and you will find success and happiness.

Thanks! His girlfriend applied for early admissions and is accepted to the Honors College at Landis? It is interesting that this school was both of their 1st choices even before they started dating. Now I have to educate myself on the dorms. He doesn't want the meal plan but most of the dorms on the east side seem to require it. Any thoughts?

Students residing in DeGraff, Deviney, Dorman, Kellum, McCollum, Ragans, Salley, Smith, and Wildwood halls are not required to purchase a meal membership, but many choose to do so.

These halls Broward, Bryan, Cawthon, Gilchrist, Jennie Murphree, Landis and Reynolds require a meal plan but you could take the minimum level if you want to live there.

Thanks for that information, cybermom! We have some research to do. I don't think he is all that picky about where he lives the first year. He will figure it out. How far away from the dorms is the College of Engineering? That is the program he will be in.

rsxwheeeeee,

I always thought it was pretty much mandatory to have an essay these days.
Guess not, haha.

nolemom:
Here is a map showing the distance between the COE and the main campus.
Map & Directions | FAMU-FSU College of Engineering
I would think most if not all of the first year general education classes would be available in the main campus but engineering classes in subsequent years are held near the golf course. There is a shuttle bus route 43 to the main campus.
Here is the web site about the college of engineering FAMU-FSU College of Engineering
