I had recently been admitted to UCLA. :) But now I am facing the arduous tasks of trying to finance it. My efc is 20,000 and my parents aren't going to help pay for any of it. Does anyone have any ideas as to how I would be able to pay the $30,000 a year tuition with out acreeding a inordinate amount of death. Please give me some advice.

Well your situation is a little bit different then mine since my parents said they would help if I need them to…but this is my plan from the little I know about paying for college:

The potential college I want to go to gave me a 6,000 scholarship and 14,000 for financial aid. So the rest Im planning to go on work study ( you apply in your FAFSA) or just get a normal job. And Im also applying for A LOT of local scholarships!!! And the rest of the money Im planning on taking out a loan or two with LOW interest and will allow me to pay until after I graduate.

Also look at UCLAs financial aid website they should list any scholarships, or talk about their loan policy as well. Are you from CA? Then you can probably try CAL grant?? Or any other CA options…they have a lot to offer, since Im from CA too…but Im going out of state anyway.

I hope this helped!!! Let me know if you need more info.

Thanks for the response. I am From CA and got rejected for the cal grant. Is there any other way that I can acreed scholarships

I got rejected too! But there should be a lot of local scholarships that you can apply for. I use fastwebs and *****. And look for Grants as well…Im pretty sure Ca has a lot of options to help pay for school. Let me know if you need anything else.
