yoo...
i got in regular decision. :)
found out via email. super excited and relieved.

refreshes inbox furiously

^ditto above

congrats. i guess i'll be seeing you in fall. :)

Does that mean that most kids will find out soon?

I am rejected.

Can everyone post their stats? I didn't apply but I really wish I had. Can anyone with around a 3.5 and a 1950 SAT get in with excellent essays (especially Why Oberlin) and the "right" kind of personality for the school?

hey, wait a minute, are all of the people who have heard already internationals? That would explain a lot.

Burninup88:

I applied ED I for Oberlin this year and got in to become part of the 2010 class.

I have a 3.62 GPA, am in the top 15% of my class, and got a 1980 on my SATS.

But I was also the first kid from my school to go there (and I think apply there) and showed unboundless enthusiasm (hence the ED I).

All that said, if you went down the same route (LOVED the school, showed that you did, applied early, etc) you could probably have a shot. I considered it a reach (Oberlin's such an awesome school), but I got in!

Oberlin 2010!

Burninup88:

I'm an intl, but I haven't heard anything from Oberlin ;(

^^ you might want to email them to remind them that since you are international, you want to receive email notification. but i'm pretty sure all other international applicants have already found out ( i could be wrong...)

ellenjh: where do you live? i heard that international students living in the US havent been notified yet :)

nhyn: I currently live in Seoul, South Korea, but I used to live in US a couple of months ago :(

About a month ago, I sent email asking if I could check my status and know if there's any documents that I didn't submit. But they never answered me! Man, this drives me crazy!

Try this email (its all about "emailing the right person" ^^): Charles.Grim@oberlin.edu, hes in charge of international stuff (and of course international students like us) :D good luck!!!

I emailed him, but it seems like it's too late :( well, I gotta wait. Good luck to you all!

Ok, this is the thing, I did NOT get in, maybe because I didn't show them enough passion I guess. I'm so disappointed. :(
well, What Mr. Grim said was this:

Dear **,

I'm sorry to have to tell you this, but we are not able to offer you a
place at Oberlin. You should have received an e-mail on the 13th of
March. A hard copy of the letter was also sent then and you should
receive that any day now.

so I guess all the people who got accepted already notified by e-mail :)

Ellenjh, dont worry... U will be accepted somewhere which will match ur taste!

I haven't gotten any type of email yet. All I got was a letter from the neuroscience department stating their interest in students "like me". I hope I get in so I can get three in a row. So far I've gotten into Umich-ann arbor and Uwisconsin-madison.

outofstateorbust:
I hadn't gotten any email from them either when I asked them about my admission result by email. If I were you, I'd ask them about the result by email. Congrats to your Umich and Uwis admission! Good luck! I heard that science department in Oberlin is really strong! (I applied as a chem major but got rejected, sigh)
