.... But I'm probably not going there lol (already in Colgate and it's a better school imo)

Just got a little envelope yesterday saying that I was into the Ag School. No financial aid stuff and they said they would send stuff later.

BUT I'M IN MY FIRST IVY WOOT

Congrats! I'm sure that you'll make the right decision about what college you decide to attend, be it Colgate, Cornell, or another college. How're you going to celebrate?

before you got in did you get a course book?

congrats! that is a huge accomplishment!

Congratulations!!! I just got my letter from CALS a couple of days ago, too. But I also will probably not attend.... better offers from other schools. :)

Cornell! These people are not loyal! Take me! I'll attend you for sure!

p.s. jk congrats

p.p.s. no but seriously please take me

how did u find out that u got in? is there anything on their application checking site>?

vicissitudes-

lol ur post actually made me laugh. perhaps its just because it is late and im ridiculously tired. nonetheless, it still made me laugh.

did you just say that colgate is a better school?

are you high?

Yeah I find that statement highly dubious.

Yes, I think the OP might have a wicked crack habit.

cubbies, have u been advisor to Mr Bush in ur past...or r u in any way related to Mr Dubya

its common for people to turn down cornell for colgate; the majority of ppl in my school turn cornell down for colgate, though i think its a stretch to call colgate "better"...the girls are much hotter, however

it's not exactly common for people to turn down cornell for colgate. I have never heard of it happening and i'm from around the central new york area. Usually 8-9 students get into colgate and 2-3 get into Cornell each year. I'll keep you posted if it happens, though.

colgate is better if you want that very small "frat boy or athlete" environment where "every guy is an econ major and every girl is a psychology major" (note: this is the description of Colgate from a friend whose trying to transfer out of Colgate to Cornell).

Hey perfect...these two guys can trade places.

When I was an undergrad at Michigan, I dated a PhD student who did her undergrad at Colgate (Spanish major mind you...not Psych). All I know is that she had an incredible body! So I agree with Stonecold on that one!!! LOL Seriously, Colgate is not quite as good as Cornell. Colgate is a very respected LAC but Cornell and is one of the top 10 universities in the nation. I have never heard anybody say that Colgate is better than Cornell and very few people I know would have turned down Cornell for Colgate. Cornell has a better faculty, equally good students, more resources, better professional and graduate school placement, a more widespread alumni network etc...

Colgate better than Cornell...I've never heard of a student turning down Cornell for Colgate. Honestly, The people I know who got into Cornell treated Colgate as a safety school.

for the class of 2009, and according to Princeton Review

colgates acceptance rate is 27%, and the SAT Range is 1280-1430
Cornells acceptance rate was 27%, and SAT range of 1290-1480

as you can see, colgate is almost as competitive as cornell, and by no means is it a safety school

i dont think colgate is a true safety school to Cornell, but more like a "if I dont get into Cornell but get into Colgate, I wont be that bummed." Kind of like a "safety reach" of sorts.

for Colgate, Princeton Review says that "students also consider and often prefer Cornell"

Actually, safety school was too much, I agree. What gomester said seems more correct. However, stonecold23, I doubt an acceptance rate and SAT range can give you a full picture of each school and which is essentially "better."
