PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE don't get worked up over deferrals this year, folks. I can't say this enough, and I've posted it all over the place.

We had an ENORMOUS number of EA apps this year, more than we expected and more than we could process before January 1. As a result, we got through as many as we could, and we're continuing to crank through as many as we can. We "deferred" a chunk of EA folks because we told you we'd tell you something by January 1, but we just didn't have enough information to complete several applications before that date... so as a result, we had to defer a lot of applicants just to give us more time to complete.

Please be patient and understanding as we try to sift through literally dozens and dozens of mail bins every day; we're getting through applications as quickly as we can, but it takes time to put all the pieces together.

jenndk -- it looks like your son was originally in that deferral pool, but he was one of the group that we were able to complete quickly; as a result, he should get something in the mail from us soon.

For everyone else who's EA and either hasn't heard or has been deferred -- please hang in there, and we'll get you more info as soon as we can. THANK YOU!

I was deferred at an onsite interview at my school, and was told I'd have to send my midyear grades. I have not sent them yet, but the SOLAR system has changed to reflect an acceptance. I have already sent my deposit to Binghamton, so I'm not particularly concerned about this-- I just find that odd.

My application was complete as of November 15. I received the "Congratulations!" text in SOLAR yesterday. I had the "New Student" links a week before that.

What is the process for declining an acceptance, so someone else can be taken off the waiting list? I know a lot of people have Stony Brook as their first choice, and would kill for this spot.
