Are merit scholarships announced along with the decision letters? Not the big DHS/Community Service ones - but I had heard that Tulane offers others - 10-15K scholarships.

Yes, you will get information about some of the merit scholarship awards with your acceptance letter (but not on line). Good luck

Just got my acceptance letter the other day–Honors College and Distinguished Scholar Award! Very excited!

FYI arisamp, it is looking like the scholarships to which you refer are ranging from $7,500 - $25,000 again this year, same as last year, at least so far, unless we hear otherwise. Specifically they were usually $15,000 (Academic Achievement); $20,000 (Founders Scholarship); $22,000 (Distinguished Scholars) and $25,000 (Presidential) with a few $7,500 ones that I never quite figured out what they were called. In any case, that is how they seem to be going again this year.

alexander03 - Congrats!

Still nothing. I’m getting a little nervous because I sent my app in so early…

Maybe it is worth calling them to make sure there isn’t a glitch between what the website says and what they have, or that your folder didn’t fall behind a desk! Give them a shout, there is nothing wrong with that.

If it makes you feel any better, my son hasn’t heard anything yet and he submitted his application on Sept. 1st. His status didn’t show complete until October 8th, although everything was sent well in advance of that date. He is very well qualified based on the admissions stats and even a legacy, so I am not sure what the chain of events is there, but it doesn’t appear to be first in, first out. I know the waiting is hard, but they are dealing with a lot of applications so we are just are just trying to be patient. Just wanted you to know you weren’t alone! Hang in there!

alexander03- I got the same (Distinguished Scholar and Honors College)! Hope to see you at Tulane next fall!

What are typical stats for Distinguished Scholar?

It is hard to give “typical” stats because they look at GPA, SAT/ACT score, and strength of schedule (AP courses for example). Here are a couple from last year, though.

GPA UW: 3.8 SAT: 2070 AP’s: 7
GPA UW: 3.7 SAT: 2170 AP’s: 5

That should give you some idea.

fallenchemist - thanks for the info on the scholarships and the potential stats for these. Good to know.

I got in! So excited!

I had zero doubts, vab22. Super congrats! Let us know the details when you get the letter.
