<p>Op - best to let parents know there was someone else in the car prior to showing up for court date since circumstances would likely be discussed and may come up.. that would be the wrong time/place for your parents to find out you had a passenger.</p>

No, that won't happen. This is a traffic case, not a criminal case. The reason to get a lawyer is because lawyers know the ropes and you don't. People with lawyers often end up with just a fine, no points. They can probably get your charges reduced to "careless driving".</p>
<p>I also crashed my Toyota Camry ('08 hybrid), on the first day I had my license, thankfully it was in a parking lot and there was no damage to the other car and only a few scrapes to mine.</p>
<p>Optimization- I agree with overmon, tell your Parents "NOW", that someonelse was in the car with you. They will not be mad at you forever, though I don't know your parent, I am a Parent. You will have this hovering over you unneccesarily if you don't do so. Your parents will be mad temporarily but they will love you forever!</p>
<p>Ive gotten into an accident.. thankfully it was relatively low speed(less than 30 mph) so noone got hurt. However, I have almost been in a few close calls that certainly would have resulted in multiple fatalities.</p>
<p>That sucks. I had a car accident about a week after getting my license, didn't even have my laminated one yet, just my paper one. Thankfully no one else was involved, I just ran off a dirt road into a culvert. Don't worry, life will get better.</p>
<p>I just got into an accident a couple of weeks ago too. Mine wasn't bad, my left mirror broke but there was 0 damage to the other car (lucky huh)</p>
<p>Don't you hate insurance agents now though? Honestly, the one that called me left me this snotty message that left a bad taste in my mouth. Urgh, I think I hate cars in general now.</p>
