I got into Cal for Fall2010, is it possible to start inSpring2011?

<p>Hey guys! first of all, GO BEARS! :)
I got into Cal with for the Fall of 2010 as a junior transfer student.
However, is it possible that I can defer my admission to Spring2011 instead of Fall2010?
I have some major personal issues going on. I want to take some time off to clear things out. </p>

<p>Is this possible? I sent an email to Cal admission but I have to wait til Monday to hear back from them. </p>

<p>nah, they dont let you defer, i was kinda wondering if theyd let me, so i can relax for a semester, but i remember reading somewhere, that you cant defer it, when i find the link, ill post it.</p>

<p>Congrats! I don’t think the top UCs allow deferring admission though, unless it’s for a major reason, like for military purposes.</p>

<p>LMAO this is hilarious hahaha. Berkeley actually offered Spring admission to a bunch of people on here - but it is NOT seen as a good thing haha. Everyone who got Spring admission wishes they could have been admitted in the fall. Strange that you want the opposite :P</p>

<p>Yeah I’m super HAPPY and grateful that I got in but one of my family member just got diagnosed of cancer. I want to be next to her as much as I can. I know I should move on and start my new life at Cal but family is my first priority no matter what.</p>

<p>I’m very sorry to hear that. You should contact the admissions office and tell them why you want to have your enrollment deferred until Spring.</p>

<p>Talk to the school about it and explain your situation. I do believe your case would allow you to defer your admission. It’s not like you want to travel the world or something, you have a very legitimate reason for needing to defer.</p>
