I want to pursue a degree in engineering and I have been accepted into college of liberal arts. What does this mean for me? Can I still take engineering classes as a CLA student? more importantly, can I reapply to get into CSE for my sophomore year?
Transferring from CLA is possible but competitive. Here are the instructions:
https://cse.umn.edu/r/transfer-from-within-the-university/
Others might have more info. on this but my impression is that engineering courses are reserved for majors. Whether someone outside the college can get in on a space-available basis might depend on the specific course.
I would like to take the sophomore classes of the 4-yr plan (I have complete the freshman ones already) and then transfer to CSE to complete my junior and senior classes. Do you know if I can take the sophomore classes ( diffy Q, program for BME, molecules/cell biology, multivariable calc, biomedical thermodynamics)
My daughter’s a PSEO student at the U (so, she enrolls through the College of Continuing Education), and she’s taking Multivariable Calc and Physics for Scientists and Engineers next semester. You can still work toward all your general ed credits and the supporting classes without being admitted into CSE. If you go to https://schedulebuilder.umn.edu and look up the classes you’re interested in, the prerequisites will say if you have to be admitted to CSE or not to take the class.
Do you know if this is a typical path of rejected cse students?the likeliness of being admitted to cse as cla student (i think this would be for fall 2019)?
