I got into GSP today

Yea I deff. agree...at first I was a little bummed out, but the more I think about it, I can't wait to go! Yayyy! NYU Class of 2010!!! Congrats everyone!

Anybody new hear today about GSP?

Congrats to all that were accepted. We were in this situation last year and my daughter is now completing her first GSP semester. At an open house we were told that 90% of the freshman class was in the top 10% of their hs class. Very competitive and an honor to be accepted. Not a second class deal at all. Just another way to go to NYU.

I

to fifawcs if you are still reading this thread...

Your stock portfolio grew by 89%???

That is AMAZING omg. Did your real stock portfolio grow that much or did your stock game portfolio grow that much?

If what you say is true, you should've applied to Stern. After all, Buffet's average annual return is around 30%.

If it did grow that much, how did you do it? What did you buy?

Thank you humblebee. I started investing with real money about 2 years ago. I invested in a couple of stocks. TO this date, I have not lost. But the stocks that I currently own are IDSY,FLSH, HCBK, and HSIC. Of course, I invested in those when they were much lower, it wouldnt pay to invest now.

I recently purchased Under Armour's ipo-UARM and sold out at a 96% profit. I also won the Stock Market Game for my region.

I wanted to apply to stern but figured that my chances at CAS would be better. But in the end, it screwed me over. I shoudl ahve just applied to Stern from the start and use the mentality that if I get rejected, I get rejected. Now, if I go to GSP, I would need to tranfer to go into stern.

I was actually wondering if anyone knows of a good undergraduate business program that I have a shot at and that I could apply rd to?

go to USC if you want a good undergrad business program.

it is all the way in california though

so? not an issue with me. i was planning on applying to USC if i got rejected from NYU, but NYU pulled through for me :)

NYU CLASS OF 2010!!!!!!!!!

Wharton is best but really hard. Try the London School of Economics but that's also really hard, plus a lot based on the test scores. Penn State Honors is good, they have a good professor named Woolridge. Haas is good but also very hard. Also try UNC and Carnegie Mellon. Lastly, go to Michigan. That's probably your best shot. Good school and not too hard to get it.

hey ppls i read this entire thread and i have a few questions

my stats are:

1300 math and verbal sats.
96 avg weighted
top 3 percent in school
ranked 20 out of 860

i applied to stern and got deferred to gsp. im wondering if gsp is worth it because i heard that it will be really hard for me to catch up with all the stern kids when i enter stern because theyve already taken business classes which i couldnt cause i was in gsp. Am i allowed to take those classes that i cant in the summer or sumthin to help me catch up or wut ? all in all im really confused about GSP and whether or not i should accept it. also will i be guaranteed admission into stern after 2 yrs if i keep up my gpa. it all seems to good to be true. wuts the catch ?

ne help will be appreciated

thank u.

Unversity of Michigan's Ross School of Business has the 3rd best ugrad program in the nation (only UPenn and MIT are higher). You can apply to the b-school under a program called preferred admissions, but even if the b-school says no this year, the program doesn't start until your sophomore year anyways, so you have another chance to apply. U of M is a GREAT school but, despite what humblebee says, it is pretty hard to get into, and the later you apply the harder it gets. Plus, the B school is one of the toughest programs to get into in the entire school.

jumpman CONGRATS!...I envy you...when did you get your letter? Do you know if Stern is sending out any more GSP referalls? Jump i'd take it...ur guaranteed Stern after 2 yrs as long as u keep your GPA up...there is no catch and very few Stern-bound kids get deferred to GSP so its an honor really...

i got my letter yesterday and i was dissapointed that i didnt get in but then the gsp referral was like the light at the end of the tunnel. im really leaning towards it and ill prolly attend the seminar on gsp to find out more. im still wondering how hard it will be to catch up my junior yr with the rest of the stern kids. also can i take summer classes or sumthin of the sort to catch up on what i miss out? any help would be appreciated.

I'm sure you can definitely work through it...definitely go to the session and hopefully I'll see you there (if i get a letter today :-X)...do you know if they sent out all Stern GSP letters already? :-...

jump, where are you from?

parikhs, they probably sent the gsp letters already. The reason is that they want to give gsp people enough time to make an informed decision.

HauckT, do I first ahve to get accepted into LSA to be eligible to apply for Ross?

jumpman, if you want more info on gsp-stern please pm me and give me your screen name.

yes fifa you do...and you can apply to "preferred" admission but thats really competitive...if you get into LSA work ur ass off frosh yr and u can apply to Ross.

err...damn so there goes GSP my only hope :-...congrats to those of you that did get in...definitely consider taking on the opportunity!

But for preferred admission, do u need to first get into LSA?

yah..its harder to get into Ross than LSA...and if u get into preferred admission you still have to do freshman yr at LSA since Ross is a 3 yr program (starting soph). If you haven't applied yet..APPLY NOW b4 its too late...its rolling
