My sister's freshman year dorm, rubin, was kinda bad. The carpet in her room had a burnt mark on it. It was also close to the street so it was kinda noisy.

Oh man !! Congrats for getting in even though its GSP!
Next year.. class of 2007!!

"Do a lot of people from your school apply to NYU?"

I was the only one who applied early decision to NYU. Im sure now that because people saw that I got in, will apply regular decision...

I am surprised then that they accepted you to GSP if you were the only person applying. What were ur SATS and SAT IIs?

i thought it was class of 2010? as in.....thats the year you graduate? like were the class of 06 because we seniors graduate high school in 06?

I know it's a shock for some of you guys to be referred to GSP but look at it this way, you're in at NYU which is supposedly your first choice school or you wouldn't have applied E.D., right? Not only that but you're not bound by the E.D. agreement for GSP so if you decide you don't want GSP, you can continue with your apps to other schools. Someone asked if you can wait to decide on GSP until the R.D. round, and the answer to that is no. Generally GSP will require a decision in the next couple of weeks and you'll have to put down a deposit. If you agree to GSP, you have to withdraw any other apps you have out there and not send in any more. Same rules you'd have if you'd been accepted to CAS or Stern or any other NYU school E.D.

It's doubtful that a sibling's decision two years ago would have ANY effect on someone being referred to GSP this year. Every applicant pool is going to be different and NYU could probably fill its freshman class two or three times over with totally qualified applicants. There sometimes seems like a crazy decision has been made but keep in mind that often you don't know the entire story with kids at your school, etc. and you obviously haven't seen their entire application so it's impossible to know the reasons that they take some kids and not others. NYU looks at everything on the app but your gpa and the difficulty of the coursework you took are of top importance.

Anyway, congrats to those of you who got your letters. Letters of rejection usually go out last. For those of you who aren't sure what to do. Spend some time thinking about it, read the NYU livejournal and ask about GSP students opinions, and then decide if it's for you. For those of you who are thinking you're going to do GSP, then after two years transfer to an NYU college other than the one you originally applied to, don't count on it. It doesn't happen often and it won't happen to get into Stern. Internal transfers to Stern are very rare even from CAS or other NYU colleges, and practically nonexistant from GSP.

Did you apply ED or regular?

I've already decided to attend NYU. I look forward to 4 years of the GOOD LIFE:)

Wait, so they only give us until the end of december to notify them? That isnt good. I applied ED.

Yes , in HS you are 2006 but I am 2007, haha
Post your stats I beg of yoU!!

i posted my stats in an earlier thread....but here goes:

3.55 Weighted, 1930, medium amount of EC's, apparently i had to have gotten good recs, STELLAR essay (in my opinion, that's what swayed them), 680 - us hist SAT II, 750 - world hist SAT II, 4 on APUSH exam, 5 on APWorld Hist. exam, applied as a political science major, therefore CAS, applied ED, got deferred to GSP, but its all good. im so happy

Congrats and your acceptances. Can't you transfer to CAS after 1-2 years from GSP?

yep :)

so happy!

Did you apply ED?

I hope I get into GSP, if I don't get into Stern but I heard that's rare.

yes, i did apply ED. :)

Oh..I thought ur gpa was Unweighted firewalker..that could've played a part...fifa was your gpa unweighted or weighted?

well, my school doesnt do unweighted/weighted because we dont really give a boost to honors and ap courses. All you get is .5, and enriched classes dont get any boost.

yah my school doesn't weight either..i have a 3.6 w/ honors/AP's .. I really don't know then fifa. Have others graduated from your school before? Is your school well known?

Yea. We are number 1 in new jersey. And this year, we were one of 38 high schools (public and private) in the nation to receive the Blue Ribbon award from the Department of Education. We have lots of smart kids, and there is really not much grade inflation.

hmm well that ranking system is sorta BS because I know schools that are on that shouldn't ... that ranking is based on the # of AP's kids take...anyway I don't see why they didn't acknowledge that. Do many kids apply there each yr..what is the acceptance rate from previous yrs from your school?
