HOLY ****...Stern does defer to GSP!..legionaire asked the question on NYU Forums and here is what the guy said

"Hello, and thank you for your post. Students who apply to the Stern School of Business may be placed into the General Studies Program. However, that being said, it is also important to realize that these spaces in the Stern School are highly competitive and a student has to have a clear business focus in mind.
While a student who applies to the Stern School of Business may be placed into the General Studies Program, most students in the General Studies Program tend to come from applicants who applied directly to the College of Arts and Science. The reason for this is that the General Studies Program follows a liberal arts curriculum, while students in the Stern School of Business complete a rigorous undergraduate Business degree. Since students in the Stern School of Business begin taking business courses in their first semester, it would be more difficult for those students to complete all of the business requirements needed for their major in two years (after completing the manditory two years of liberal arts requirements in the General Studies Program). Just remember that each application at NYU is given a "wholistic review," and each student's academic and personal strenghts are evaluated to determine if he or she would be an appropriate match for each one of our programs of study.

yah prolly...:-\ but hopefully that isn't true :)...according to the adcom its someone w/ a true drive for business and I emphasized that all over my application :)

I have a question-
Do just Stern applicants get offered admission into GSP? Because I applied to Tisch and was just wondering if they ever offered it to Tisch hopefuls.

Not to discourage you Stern hopefuls but it is VERY rare for anyone who applies to Stern to be referred to GSP. I wouldn't count on it.

Dramaqueen, a few Tisch applicants are referred to GSP every year. They're Film/Tv kids, though, so if you've auditioned for drama, you won't go to GSP. With the studio system it wouldn't work, obviously, for you to miss the first two years.

how rare is it for someone in GSP for CAS to transfer to Stern in 2 years..I know a couple of kids from my school that are now seniors who have made the transition.

I just got my GSP acceptance letter today too...and I have to admit at first I was a little upset about it...It was bitter/sweet...but the more I think about it the more I realize that it's a great program, and it even has some benefits over the other ones...anyways congrats to everyone who got in...and good luck for those who are still waiting!!!

im glad i started doing business courses my freshman year in college. im trying to transfer into stern and the only thing holding me back is calculus . apparently they dont take clep scores so i have to take it in the spring semester. since they dont really look at sat scores (mine sucked) and focus more on college grades (3.75 uw gpa) i think i can get in. i graduated high school a year early and will have 42 hours by the time i was suppose to graduate high school (12 in the summer, 12 in the fall, and 18 in the spring) following a strong liberal arts program but still fulfilling the requirements for consideration (macroecon, microecon, financial accounting, managerial accounting, calculus). if i get offered gsp i will probably still go and unfortunately just switch majors. congrats on all of you getting in. im sure nyc is great as i have never been. texas to ny will be a culture shock for me (if i get in lol).

It was only GSP...because if you're accepted to GSP it is non-binding, thus giving students more time to think about their decision--whether they will attend NYU or not. Other school's decisions should come either later this week or early next week, according to what I have read on CC and NYU's website.
