I also got into GSP but I kind of need some advice. I'm planning on majoring in Bio-medical engineering(might change) and eventually taking the MCAT's and applying to medical school. The problem is that if I go to GSP, I will be missing 2 years of needed science/math courses that I need to learn from in order to have a shot for the MCAT's. Now if I transer to CAS for junior year, that leaves me with 1.5 semesters to cram for the MCAT's( as most take it this time of year). Basically I would be wasting precious time by taking these liberal arts classed that have nothing to do with my plans. Any advice? I'm happy I that NYU gave me a chance and this boosted my confidence a little for the future but...is GSP for the pre-medical type student? TIA for helping me out^^

I think that is what guidance counselors are for. If you plan to go to med school, they will arrange your schedule so that you can take those med courses.

tangents: There are also two summer sessions in which you can choose from well over thousand courses. You'll be able to squeeze in a semester worth of work over the summer and be half a year ahead. Good luck.

Out-of-state people always relate crime, violence, just negative factors overall with NYC

Its not about that
NYC has so much more to offer than some place like Texas.
If you get accepted into NYU you'll see :]

this is why im perfectly fine with GSP classes...im a poli sci major, all these liberal arts classes will be related to my major in some way

GG.GL. HF. GOGOGOOGOGOGO

i am from arlington. it is in between dallas and ft worth. i think my essay is excellent and is my key to stern. i have had three people edit my essay (vp of a marketing firm, writer for the newspaper, and my english professor from the summer who wrote my recommendation as well.) hopefully they look at that and my explanation on why i didn't do so hot in high school. i have a bunch of stuff for finals to guarantee straight a's for the semester so eeeek.

trace, if you're applying as a transfer, you won't get GSP. It's only for freshman applicants.

lmfao. pwned.

yea i realized that. what was i thinking?

NYU shoudl definitely give more time to decide for GSP. Because I am torn right now between goign with gsp or waiting ti out for other acceptances/rejections.

just go ahead and enroll with the deposit. if you decide to go somewhere else you can get back part of the deposit.

No you cant. They say that once u put down the deposit, you are bound by the early decision agreement.

fifawcs is right. If you say yes to GSP, you're bound. You have to withdraw any other apps.

is it possible for Steinhardt applicants to be placed into GSP?

someone told me that yes steinhardt kids can be put in.

i'm thinking not studio art or performic music people..

but for communications (like me) or education its probably likely.

Hi Everyone! I was just wondering if any of you guys that got into GSP applied to a school other than CAS?

Chibi, My statement was not trying to prove, or make a point that NYC is all about crime and violence. However, those are characteristics that make up a city. I know that NYC probably does have a lot more to offer--especially in areas such as the Arts, but large cities in Texas provide many opportunities as well.

My sister lives in Brooklyn, and I have been to NYC on many different occasions. I have lived in both Washington DC and Chicago. Just because you hear that Texas is filled with many racist, close-minded, conservatives (which it is), does not mean that going to NYC will be a huge culture-shock expirience/welcome to the real world, for everyone. That is all I am saying.

And tangents, College isn't a race to see who can finish in four years. You'll probably find yourself wanting to stay in school as long as possible before you have to go out and start finding jobs and providing for yourself. That is in no way meant to sound rude, but I have met many college graduates searching for jobs and most wish they were still in school and/or plan to go back to school.

hahaha @ Texas. New York is gonna be full of progressives. YEAAAA BABY

I knoe no one knows for sure...but will more GSP letters be coming? Do they send them out all at once, or over the course of a week or so?

Hi Catherine! I actually had the same question so i called the admissions office and they said a lot of them have been sent out but they are somewhat on a "rolling" basis as far as sending them out. They willl be sending them out right up until december 31st. After reading many posts, it seems everyone thats got into GSP applied to the CAS. Maybe they are sending it out in sections by school.
