I got into Stern...should i turn it down?

I got into Stern as a Scholar...but ...as most of you know the financial aid sucks and I can't really afford it (32000 in loans). But I would really like to go. So I was thinking that maybe I could go to the state college (UF) for a year, maintain a high gpa, and then transfer to NYU Stern later on to save some money (and to save up for the next 3 years). But, I wonder if its hard to do this? Would it be easier for me to transfer to it later on since I was already accepted once? Or should I just go with NYU Stern from the beginning?...sigh..tough choices.

If you can pay than just go to Stern. I'm assuming that since you are asking you can prob afford the loans. It is better to be on the safe side and just go instead of trying to transfer. If you truly cannot afford Stern and you love NYC (like me) than you should go to the state school and transfer. Just make sure you have a very high gpa for the transfer, I have heard its very difficult but I'm sure its possible.

my philosophy--you made New York University NOW....not in a year, not in a semester, not in 2 weeks, NOW. there is no guarantee the offer will still stand later on.

why not go now--judge it to your own style of learning, your interests, etc--then figure out if oyu wanna keep paying massive loans for it

if it is not too financially burdening for you, come to Stern. your loans can be you prime motivation for coming here and really working hard and getting that coveted job. i guess Stern to a degree can attribute its excellent job placement and extremely driven and motivated students to the ridiculous fiancial aid that NYU offer. ofcourse you can transfer but as you well know that it will be more diffcult. good luck!

I'm in almost exactly the same decision. I'm finding it hard enough, however, to even find a cosigner for my loan. I'm going to have to take out about 30,000 as well per year. But I think, in the end, it will be worth it...I'm turning in my deposit tomorrow.
