I got much applause when...

I made a speech at my graduation and mentioned the evil entity that is College Board and the waste of effort that are the SATs.

I get physically angry when I think about this test.

why? 10 char

I get angry too when I think of the test. It's long and dumb and boring and you have to wake up so early for it.

(ok, i see this: " 10 char " everywhere, what the hell does it mean?)

"10 char" is written to fill the minimum requirement of 10 characters per post.

I really don't get why ppl get so mad when thinking about the SAT

When I think of it, I see it as a 2nd opportunity

2nd chance to what?

well when you get bad grades, the SAT can prove that you aren't like brain dead.

It can work the other way around though. If you work hard in school and get good grades, you can get brought down by low standardized test scores.

SAT scores that are not congruent with grades may be interpreted in the following way by adcoms:

Low SAT + good grades = overacheiver
High SAT + poor grades = laziness

It's not like I have LOW LOW LOW grades, it's just that they aren't like super high like they used to

i actually like the sat i dont know i guess i like the pressure of having to prove yourself to colleges around the country in one 4 hour period

I like the SAT, too. It gives me a chance to make all of those stupid write-15-pages-when-the-teacher-asks-for-ten kids realize that quality is better than quantity. Seriously, the SAT is great for showing what people can actually do in a standardized environment where everyone has the same time to do the same task.

ya...I like the fact that everyone is thrown into this fast-paced environment. I find it morbidly fascinating to see others crack under the pressure.

I have to disagree entirely with magicmonkey. Standardized tests lack in demand of analytical capacities. It teaches people to be idiots. To look for what the examiner wants rather than what is right. It negates the purpose of an exam (which is to test abilities and knowledge rather than assigning a number).

What the examiner wants? Umm...it is fair

Purpose of the exam? To tell how much you know of what they ask

I'd rather have a number than a percentage
