So second semester report cards come by and I found out I got a B in one of my classes. I take the most rigorous classes at school, and I am planning on applying to top Universities. I got an A in the class first semester, but the class was much harder second semester, which is why I got a B. If this seems like a downward trend in grades to the Adcoms, how will this affect my chances at the top Universities?

Thanks in advance for any responses

BTW This is for my junior year. I will be a senior this fall. The class I got a B in was IB Spanish, and I have no interest in majoring in humainities in college.

Colleges will look at that and think, if he can't excel at every high school class, he obviously won't amount to anything and does not deserve a spot at our prestigious institution of higher learning.

omg a B!!! the horrors! jeez calm down, one B will not ruin your chances to get into a top university even if u used to have an A in the class...CHILL

lol, the only B i ever got in high school was my 10th grade health class. it didn't stop me from getting into college and i plan to major in something far removed from it.

I got a total of nine B's and B-'s and I got into Barnard, Claremont McKenna, Oberlin, and was waitlisted at Pomona and Wesleyan. Somehow, I doubt very much that one B is going to be the tipping point of your application.

Hey...I got my first C. I felt like dying. I had all A's.
Anyway, a B/C doesn't mean that you won't be accepted by top universities.
Take it easy and be optimistic. Your worrying doesn't change anything.
Good luck.
