I got my first C ever....How will this affect my chances with Clemson U??

Hi, I’m a junior and I just finished my semester. I have really good grades (3.7 gpa unweighted) and I’m taking two AP classes which I’m getting an A and B in. I have never really been good in math (I’m taking Algebra II right now) but I have always managed to get a B…However, when I got my grade a couple of days ago for my semester, I was pretty mortified because I had a C in Algebra!! My first C ever!!!

I would feel a lot better, but I have my sights set on Clemson U, and it’s fairly difficult to get into (they mostly focus on SAT scores, GPA, and whether or not you took AP classes). I have the option for grade forgiveness, to retake my Algebra semester and try for a better grade, but that would have to be over the summer and it costs $500...

My question is, do you think a C in my semester will greatly affect my chances at being accepted into Clemson, especially if I maintain an A throughout my second semester? If it will, I’ll take the grade forgiveness course, but if it’s no big deal, then I’ll just live, let die, and do better this semester? What do you think I should do and how bad is the situation if I don’t take the grade forgiveness option??

Your rejection letter will contain a lethal substance.

Okay, can someone please give me a real answer? I need to make a decision quickly...Please give me advice, I'd really appreciate it! :)

Clemson is a joke school. People get in there with 21 ACT 3.0 GPAS. I promise your one "C" will not change your admissions. HEY IN FACT I PROMISE YOU $1000 if your admissions gets taken back .

Aww, don't be mean guys. :(

But seriously, you said it yourself, one of the main things they look at is GPA, so they will probably consider the C in the context of the transcript, as opposed to individually. This means if everything else is above average for the school, one grade probably won't affect your overall GPA significantly enough to matter. Personally, I don't think it's worth it to take the grade forgiveness class if, you SAT, GPA etc. qualify you for admission already.

Good luck! :)
