ahhh....i just got a call from cornell saying i'm offered a spot of the waitlist!! they are mailing the information and everything on monday! I'M SOOO EXCITED!!! when i saw "cornell university" on the caller id i was sooo pumped!!! i was shaking during the entire phone call!

to the rest of the waitlisted applicants...GOOD LUCK!!! it could happen to you too!!! :-)

O wow that's so great!!! I can't even imagine how excited you are and how excited you musta been on that phone call. Congrats! Just curious, where were u gonna go? Have a great day, live it up!

When I first got the call I was like, "Huh?" Then when she told me, I couldn't say anything. I'll definitely be wearing red to school on Monday!

Cornell made the mistake of offering admission to too many people last year and ended up overenrolled by 250. It would make sense that they would try to err in the opposite direction this year, knowing that they can always resort to the waitlist.

I'm CALS (biology major)...not sure if all of the colleges have started taking people off, but for those who were admitted, YAY! For those still on the waitlist, there is still hope!

i have a question for those of you who made it off the waitlist: did any of you contact the school regarding your dreams of still attending cornell? i'm just wondering if that method truly works.

Umm, I sent a letter expressing interest...but that was only last week...I'm still going with miracle :) Colleges are all about "yield," and they want to know if you will come if offered admission (thus the phone call before they actually send you the stuff). Telling them that it is your number one choice will definitely help, I think.

My daughter got off CAS. She wrote a letter to them to say she would go if admitted. Her college counselor also sent in her interim grades and an additional recommendation letter. Cornell called her counselor instead of us directly.

so, did anyone NOT go through this process? from what i've heard, the people chosen off the waitlist are picked at random. however, if you express an added interest in the school after being waitlisted, it will work in your favor eventually.
