I got placed into a triple dorm .. help

I'm a transfer student and I vividly remember selecting double as the room preference and when I got my housing assignment yesterday and saw that it listed two roommates, I realized I got placed into a triple dorm at Rockoff (College Ave). Is there a way I can call and dispute, asking for a double room so I can just room with one person? Yes I am a transfer but I'm still technically a first year student feeling just like the freshmen, and I want to start off by just dorming with one person rather than two, I feel like it would be chaotic.

And I was just wondering, is it possible for me to change dorms to Livingston? (Preferably the North/South tower). Or are those limited to only freshman? Because I've seen a lot of freshman get placed into those dorms, and not one transfer.

Rockoff has appartments with three singles.

You have two bedrooms and one common area like an apartment… so your room is a “double” and there is one single.

^Wait so I still do not understand. If my room is a double (two bedrooms), why do I have two roommates?

When you are assigned to an appartment, you get the name of everyone who is living in that appartment. This doesn’t mean that you are in the same bedroom as them, just that you are all in the same appartment. Either you are in an appartment with an RA (who gets a single) and you get the double with the other person, or you’re in an appartment with three single bedrooms and you don’t have a roommate.

Okay so it says the building type is a three bedroom. One roommate is listed Rockoff 1004A, and another is listed Rockoff 1004B, and I am listed as Rockoff 1004C. So does this mean I have my own room and I don’t have to share the same room with my roommate? Because I have a completely different image of what a “dorm” is (Two beds in a small amount of space, having to share everything with your roommate. You know the typical), and I actually wanted a roommate since this is my 1st year.

Rockoff isn’t a traditional residence hall, its an appartment building. You will have your own bedroom and it will have a closet, an extra long bed, a dresser, a desk and chair. You and your three appartment mates will share a living room, a bathroom and a kitchen.

If you still want a Livi dorm you can definitely get one with a slot in Rockoff, just post it on the FB group.

you have a single in the 2nd most requested apt(1st is the new livi apts that are opening up in fall) for continuing students. Yes, you can switch but most likely it will have to be with another non-freshmen since they are not allowed to live in rockoff.

Dude switch with me. I have a 2 bedroom apartment with a roommate on Busch. You’ll still have an apartment and you get the roommate you wanted. I’m a transfer too but I really want a single bedroom apartment
