I got rejected by csuf

how could i get rejected?!!!!!! my sat scores are 1120(cr+math) and their adimission requirements is 950, also my toefl score is 86 and their minimum score is 61, i have done much better than their requirements for these two but they said that my high school grade transcripts are not good enough......why dont they look at my ECs and Sat and toefl

They probably did, but they looked at your high school grades, too.

You haven’t described your grades, and I’m not asking you to describe them here, but ask yourself, are they a point of weakness in your application?

I wonder whether you’re overlooking two important facts about the admissions process:

An offer of admission doesn’t result from meeting or exceeding the university’s standards in a few areas (grades, test scores, extracurriculars, etc.); it results from meeting or exceeding the standards in *every *area.

Many universities don’t admit every applicant who does meet their admissions standards. They can’t. There’s still a limit to the number of students they can enroll, because their resources are finite. There’s only so much space in the labs and the classroom buildings; there are only so many seats in the libraries and only so many outlets for people’s laptops. So universities often choose from among the qualified students, rather than admitting all of them.

I’m sorry you were disappointed.

You mentioned the toefl…Are you a non-citizen/international applicant?? Because if you are, then your ability to pay could’ve affect your decision. I’m sorry.

Also, CSUs are obligated to admit applicants from nearby before admitting those from farther away in Cali. Maybe you didn’t live close enough to Fresno?

(By the way, CSUs do not consider extracurricular activities. Their admission process is not holistic.)

This is a very old thread. OP has moved on.
