A mother in my orbit was surprised by her daughter’s outright rejection in the Early Decision round from a college that had seemed like a solid match. But, in spite of the unexpected verdict, both parent and student were at least a little pleased by the denial. “As soon as my daughter hit the Submit button on that application, she’d started having second thoughts,” the mom conceded.
While most ED applicants are disappointed when they’re not accepted, some actually feel like they may have dodged a bullet … excited by the possibility of adding new schools to the list and keeping options open.
Are there other CC members out there who were relieved to get “bad” Early Decision news this month?
