ah, well thanks for clarifying kafka, I was underestimating the selectivity of OSU

:/ we’ll see what happens

Does OSU even do alumni interviews? Almost every senior at my HS applies, and none of the ones I know have mentioned interviewing for OSU unless they did so while visiting campus.

Kafka’s right about the selectivity level. Sure, it isn’t Yale, but OSU doesn’t accept everyone.

Anyway, OSU has made its decision. It’s over. I’m sorry.

If you do request an “interview”, what you really need to know is IF there is anything you can do. So perhaps you can ask if you can be reconsidered when final grades come out (rolling admission? maybe they’ll still have room?). Or if you can still resubmit any standardized tests that you might re-take in the next months. Otherwise…I’m not sure what you think an interview might do. Luck.

op, suck it up and move on.
consider going to community and transferring after a couple years.

Yeah I’m gonna ask them if they can reevaluate it after final grades come out

Not to get you down, but Ohio State doesn’t offer interviews because of the mass amount of applications they have to get through, they’d never be able to get through them all.

That’s why they don’t even want recc letters, because they don’t have the staff to evaluate so much information.

Also, your GPA and ACT score are both very low for Ohio State. I was accepted to OSU a few weeks ago, but I have two friends, both with 27 ACTs and 3.6 GPAs that were deferred. If you truly want to go to Ohio State, a satellite campus and then transferring in for Winter Quarter is probably your best option.

yeah but i also know people with the same ACT score and lesser to none EC and about the same gpa that got in.

Some people only pay one dollar for a lottery ticket and win - seems unfair to all those who buy a hundred dollars worth of tickets every pay period.

OSU is not an elite private, but a flagship state school. GPA>ECs. So if your friends have higher GPA, that’s probably why they got in and you didn’t. It all boils down to stats in the end, and unfortunately not everybody can make it in. You found that out the hard way, and it’s tough, but you have to accept their decision.

Oldfort is right, the time has come to move on. Your test scores are at or below the 25th%-tile for OSU. The university reports that 87% of freshman were in the top quarter of their graduating class; without knowing your high school, I’m not sure a 3.1 would qualify.

If you insist on pursuing an appeal, at least do some research to see if there is a formalized process. The more information you have the higher your probabilities of getting a hearing. But you are going to need a stronger argument than “I really, really want to go to OSU”. I suggest going to a different university, OSU regional campus or community college, getting good grades and then applying as a transfer.

I have heard of something called appealing a decision from a school. You have to show up to their i guess court system they use where people get into trouble and are deciding if they should stay in school. Im not sure what its called. I am also not sure if ohio state has this. I know this because my teacher appealed the decision of UMaryland and then get accepted. You have to show them that they need you and you need them…
GL man

I know you really want to go to Ohio State, but you can always transfer or go somewhere else where you’d end up loving a lot more! I feel like appealing decisions are unnecessary. Also, I don’t know if this is true or not, but it would annoy the school and ruin any future chances.

I think kkkristy is right.

You can always transfer if you go to another school. You might even end up liking another school better.

If nothing works out then I’m gong to the regional campus in the summer so I can tansfer earlier

^^^ Excellent idea. Shows real interest, plus you get a head start.

yeah I really wanna go here. if I start in the summer I should be able to transfer after the winter quarter
