Hmm severe over-reaction. But yea I think you sort if deserved that in the sense, that you really shouldn’t talk back to authority. Her feelings were probably really hurt, so she acted irrationally in turn. Be a bit more sensitive, and polite next time I suppose.

60% of my family worked/works in libraries.

Appeal it. You’ll always be getting pushed around if you just let yourself get screwed over like that.

You didn’t do anything suspension-worthy, I doubt that you’ll be unsuccessful.

Wasn’t there a thread where that AeroEngineer guy said he got suspended and still got accepted to MIT and another guy got into fights daily and got into Columbia? I wouldn’t worry too much, but if the college actually does reject you, say what happened and see what you get.

Wow that sucks. At my school they mayyyyyybe would have made you log off of the computer if checking email was actually against the rules.

I agree you didn’t deserve it but the suspension might not affect you. I know the UC’s never ask about your disciplinary record at all. Theres a couple colleges that never ask unless the suspension will affect you to the point where you fail your classes or where you wouldn’t be able to graduate. Even if you explain it, I think they’ll agree your school overreacted. If you didn’t apply to UC’s… sorry this post did not help lol.
OH and your school is ridiculous. Lucky you’ll be out soon :]

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.Ha.haha

Seriously pull that pole out of your ass.

While I think the suspension sounds harsh, I think it’s important to note that the suspension is not really for using Yahoo, but for mouthing off to the librarian.

That’s so lame.
When I was in HS, the librarians were the exact same way. This one old raggedy looking ■■■■■ doll (I seriously wanted to rub her belly and make a wish) would always come up behind us and try to see what we’re doing on the computer.
One time, I physically turned the monitor away from her and she said “Why are you turning the screen away? You’re doing something you’re not supposed to.”

I responded, “yes, I’m trying to watch Arctic Albino midget porn and you’re making it difficult to get off.”

She seriously never bothered me again.
I got in trouble so often in HS, I just got to a point that I didn’t care anymore. I don’t know if any of my suspensions were actually on my transcript though. I got into Columbia, so maybe not.

Get your parents to talk to the principal or something, it’s ridiculous. Obviously the librarian isn’t suited to work with children and I don’t know what kinda rule that is to get suspended for checking your email (I use email all the time to download files I need to print or stuff) and saying “Thanks Mom,” which isn’t even that bad of a comment anyway.

why don’t you get one of those lawyers from the board of ed?

That sucks… although that thanks mom thing was uncalled for, suspension is too harsh.

Does it go on your record? (some schools actually don’t put that on your record)

I guess my school is pretty lax. I’ve done much worse than that and haven’t even been written up. HotIvy, grow up and maybe this year you can actually get asked to prom by someone that isn’t in the glee club? Nerds these days.

Also, why do some of you people think you need to constantly respect authority?

This was months ago, though o.O

Reasonably, many adults are like that. We all know that. Although it was rude, she shouldn’t have freaked out.

But, it’s stupid that you can’t check your email at school.

you cant use email at school???

Our school revolves around email.

That’s really weird that you can’t check your Yahoo email at school.

^That stopped being a rule in like 6th grade, haha.

made me LOL
