I got the "likely" letter and didn't get in.

I received the invitation to the women in engineering email that include "your application is considered highly competitive." I also just got rejected. When you guys get the letters next year just know it doesn't mean your automatically in.

I’m so sorry to hear that :frowning:
well I was rejected after getting the questionnaire. I’m so depressed!!!
I’m accepted into UCSD, Michigan, rejected from UCB and UCLA. Waiting for the ivies now…Man,UCB was like my dreamschool.

I heard that some people at UCLA got regents scholarships but were rejected from the school.

^^ you’ve got to be kidding

^he’s serious, i’ve heard it too.weird yes

Scholarships and admissions are two different departments.

The people got the UCLA regents scholarships only got thus far, and until their admissions is verified, will they be interviewed onto the next round.

It happens every year. :/

but doesn’t a regents scholarship mean that you’re in the top 2% of applicants?

I’m 1/538 in my class and I got rejected by UCLA. Got into Cal though

Yes it does, but again, the Regents scholarship is solely based on GPA. UCLA just doesn’t look at GPA in offering admission.

that’s just not cool, man.

that’s just beyond uncool of them to do that.

"Yes it does, but again, the Regents scholarship is solely based on GPA. UCLA just doesn’t look at GPA in offering admission. "

I’d recommend checking your facts.

The same question has been answered in the UCLA thread. Ask them, they’re on the board.

P.S.-The fact of the matter is, without taking this any further, is that whether or not you get the Scholarship DOES NOT imply your admission to whatever school.

For UCLA it might be the Regents.
For Cal its the Alumni Scholarships.

It’s just the way it is. I agree tho, it shouldn’t be this way. It gets the student’s hopes up. -.-

"Yes it does, but again, the Regents scholarship is solely based on GPA. UCLA just doesn’t look at GPA in offering admission. "

That is the dumbest post in this thread. I got UCLA and Cal Regents invitations, and at the interviews I was told “Congratulations, you have been admitted blah blah blah” My GPA isn’t stellar either.

I’m pretty sure the women in engineering thing wasn’t a likely letter.
That being said…sucks to get the regents and then not get in. That doesn’t make much sense.

every UC does regents differently. for Cal, it means you got in for sure. UCLA never made such a promise. unfortunately, we all got into the mind set that UC regents=acceptance.

There is no such thing as a likely letter, it is just ******** people make up to make themselves feel special.

And for the last time, getting a Regents’/Chancellor’s Scholarship invite at Cal means you got in. Not that it matters now.

so. i got the same thing and got rejected.

but the letter invited us to cal day, which occurs after results come out.

so i dont understand
