I had a dream

I quit Princeton to go to SC.

Did anyone turn down higher ranked schools in order to go to Santa cruz? If so, which ones?

I turned down UCSD and UCSB … although, I view UCSB and UCSC on pretty much equal levels academically.

UCSD, UCSB, University of Rochester.

UCSB, and UCI

Davis and U Texas Austin.

i turned down usc and cal for ucla…

^^ That’s not really anything surprising?

I got into cal, uc Davis and Santa cruz and am leaning toward Santa cruz but am having second thoughts. Can anyone give me any suggestions on how to make my final decision? I’m having a really hard time!

Well, try and visit both campuses if you haven’t already. Seeing UCSC really sealed the deal for me.

Hey Slug, what’s your program? I was in the same situation and I chose UCSC because of its location, college system and the programs ( I am double majoring in biology and music). Good luck!

Ya I actually live in Berkeley so I know a lot about cal, and the closeness to home doesn’t bother me. I think it’s the size that intimidates me (the student population).

I am undeclared but I’m leaning toward majoring
In art history or something related. I know that sc has a pretty good program which is why I would go there but I cannot help noticing the reactions I get when I tell people that I will probably choose sc over cal.

Well, if this puts you at ease at all, if I would’ve gotten into Cal, I still would’ve gone to UCSC.

My dad wanted me to go to UCSD, until we visited UCSC, he really thought that it was the best place for me.

Yeah, it’s not ranked as high and it doesn’t have the WOW factor of Cal, but if you really think you’ll be more comfortable at UCSC, you really should go.
